@King Bean Try /R/Ask men

2018-12-28 08:49:24 UTC

<@&516181909554987038> We are going to have to have a talk here. By deleting all his messages without archiving them, there is no way for me to see the truth of this matter and so I cannot ban PM. If any of you saved what he wrote, I will review it. If not, it's looking like I will have to unban him.

2018-12-28 08:49:49 UTC

I will be laying down some ground rules for mods very soon

2018-12-28 08:50:37 UTC

We cannot have this 'everything vanishes' approach. This was meant to be a relatively free-speech server.

2018-12-28 08:50:52 UTC

The only rules were against hate and illegal content.

2018-12-28 08:51:14 UTC

Now it seems like bans are being handed out behind my back, and I am not pleased.

2018-12-28 08:52:35 UTC

We are not going to turn into feminism. Our weapons are logic, and facts.

2018-12-28 10:17:21 UTC

@blueorange22 I would like to make a full apology about the incident relating to MRACentral and the @centralMRA twitter account earlier this year. I have regretted that incident since it first happened, and it is the reason that I avoid twitter in general now. I know that my apology can never make up for the lasting impact my actions had on you, @turbulance4, and @James.

I respect your decision to ban me from the MRACentral discord and change the passwords on the various accounts, however I ask that you do not let past events affect our relationship today in this community.

2018-12-28 13:10:34 UTC

@Men Are Human agreed. i acted too hastily

2018-12-28 13:12:54 UTC

@PM_ME_UR_PC_SPECS ok. i knew you'd be back with a new name, and i stand by the things i said. i dont think anyone with a educated view on the MRM can fairly or reasonably compare us to r/askfeminists and i dont think its "subjective" by a reasonable standard. sure everything is subjective, but thats what every regressive ideology uses as an excuse. where do you draw the line? they blatantly lie about the MRM and misrepresent data and facts, and not in a way that is a different perspective, but in a way that is objectively changing numbers or stats. i used to post there all the time when i first got into reddit

2018-12-28 13:13:55 UTC

Okay, so first off, I just want to make this clear that it is the same account. I just changed the name because I was bored of it.

2018-12-28 13:14:05 UTC

ok

2018-12-28 13:17:56 UTC

Now, I respect your belief that nobody with an educated view on the MRM can compare them to feminists. However, I dispute your belief on the basis that your worldview is solidly MRA, whereas mine is much more centered in between MRAs and feminists.

I do concur with you that certain feminist communities (such as r/askfeminists) have been polluted by moderators that power trip and have extremely strong beliefs.

2018-12-28 13:18:31 UTC

However, I do not see many "blatant lies" about the MRM and its associates

2018-12-28 13:18:48 UTC

Most claims made about the movement have a basis in reality

2018-12-28 13:20:05 UTC

well, i certainly cant disagree with that. as to the "blatant lies", they have a very strongly and inaccurate view of the MRM based on generalizations that have no basis in anything we ever say.

2018-12-28 13:20:37 UTC

Would you perhaps care to provide some examples so that I may evaluate them?

2018-12-28 13:23:37 UTC

Like when they there is no systemic sexism against men via law

2018-12-28 13:25:32 UTC

I would not say that that is a claim about MRAs as much as a claim about society. If some people on r/askfeminists do genuinely believe that, then I feel that they need to take the time to better educate themselves (something I think everyone should do regardless)

2018-12-28 13:26:24 UTC

ok, take this post: "https://old.reddit.com/r/AskFeminists/comments/a96817/what_do_you_think_of_counterfeminist_groups_like/" it asks "what do you think about counter feminist groups like MRA, red pill, etc". the mods tagged it "l;ow effort/antagonistic". lets see some of the replies:

2018-12-28 13:26:30 UTC

Feminist do exacerbate the problem by creating absolutely sexist laws like vawa and Duluth mkdel

2018-12-28 13:26:37 UTC

"Given that you posted the same thing on MR, and are now discussing our answers over there, I don’t have much credence in this being a “good faith” post. You are on the thinnest of all possible ice."

2018-12-28 13:27:04 UTC

"They’re hate groups that try and disguise their hatred by pretending to work towards men’s rights, while instead hurting men as a whole." 28 upvotes

2018-12-28 13:27:11 UTC

oh really, we are?

2018-12-28 13:27:31 UTC

"Your question is suspicious because you ask what is thought of counter-feminist groups. Counter feminist groups in general are my enemy because I oppose oppression and support liberation and self-actualization for all, and feminism is one of the most articulate and advanced sources of liberation activism."

2018-12-28 13:27:48 UTC

we are their enemy because they oppose oppression? so why are we the enemy?

2018-12-28 13:28:06 UTC

"I have very limited experience with these groups because, like most people here, I believe they are very hateful and I dont want to expose myself to that. "

2018-12-28 13:28:19 UTC

so they oppose our very existence and dont even want to give us a platform

2018-12-28 13:28:32 UTC

and thats just me clicking the first result when i search "mens rights movement" in their thread history

2018-12-28 13:28:55 UTC

Right, so blue. First of all, it is definitely a low effort/antagonistic post. That is one of the most common questions on that sub, and it keeps getting asked.

2018-12-28 13:29:16 UTC

Also, can you slow down please? I am having a hard time keeping up

2018-12-28 13:29:30 UTC

'"Given that you posted the same thing on MR, and are now discussing our answers over there, I don’t have much credence in this being a “good faith” post. You are on the thinnest of all possible ice."
This one makes sense. It is very similar to quite a lot of "hur dur look at these stupid people" posts you see everywhere.

2018-12-28 13:30:24 UTC

thats fast for you? sorry. but i do NOT see that as an antagonistic post, it's a relevant question and it was 3 years ago. the poster doesnt know when else questions where asked

2018-12-28 13:31:45 UTC

Yes, that is fast for me mate. Not the fastest of typers here.

So the thing is, the question may have been relevant at first but it keeps getting asked. The example you linked is only 3 days old.

2018-12-28 13:31:47 UTC

but how? its not "good faith post"...based on what?? why wrong with posting it in both subs? if anything, thats getting a balanced view

2018-12-28 13:32:36 UTC

ah, indeed.

2018-12-28 13:33:03 UTC

well IMO that makes them even worse because thats a logically indefensible view. you're not saying anything to justify those comments

2018-12-28 13:33:57 UTC

Because the OP is "discussing" the answers in a Q&A thread in a community that is very clearly in opposition to the first group. And as it is asking a question about the POV of a specific group, it is not really something that you can get a balanced view of.

2018-12-28 13:34:04 UTC

r/askfeminists is a trash propaganda site. it shouldnt be given any serious consideration, for anything

2018-12-28 13:34:17 UTC

how so?

2018-12-28 13:34:33 UTC

If we could just refrain from bold and brash claims for the time being, that would be great.
