Ever if somebody did a study on the prevalence of rape fantasies in women hmmm

2019-01-18 11:02:35 UTC

Ummmm where's the actual study? It just links to an abstract

2019-01-18 11:17:57 UTC

So, the article actually *is* the study... The abstract is just what they want to say about wording (people think different things when you change the wording of something and possibly the meaning, there's a shocker, anyone remember when they changed the wording to 'would you have sex with a woman who had a drink and counted men as rapists who said yes?)

They are just saying what they want things to mean. I doubt they've given the specific wording of the questions, nor is the site thecut.com reputable as a study source

u/professor_chad posted a new link in /r/MensRights It's a false comfort to say the murder and rape of women is caused by sexism - https://redd.it/aix10z

Thoughts?

Did she deserve it?

2019-01-23 20:28:40 UTC

No

2019-01-23 20:30:40 UTC

'Florida woman blows a guy for 5 bucks and a can of pringles '

2019-01-23 20:31:49 UTC

Mabey she refused to share the chips with him and that sent him over the edge

2019-01-23 20:49:56 UTC

Killed over Pringles...wow.

2019-01-23 20:51:00 UTC

Sex Pringles N’ Murder coming to a theater near you!

2019-01-23 21:09:06 UTC

I know I shouldn't be laughing as much as I am and I'm no better than feminists but goddammit I don't care

2019-01-23 21:09:41 UTC

non lethal

2019-01-24 10:22:48 UTC

I don't think that people should be killed generally and I think that sex work should be legal. Imo the reason it isn't is because women would lose their power over men to an extent

2019-01-24 14:51:33 UTC

Not just women but anyone who leverages men by incentivising them with status. It's an as cheating in many ways

2019-01-26 23:20:50 UTC

I don't know, it honestly seems like sex work is becoming more and more something young women are turning toward, with sex cams, "premium snapchats" and hell, even Twitch to an extent

2019-01-26 23:22:06 UTC

Personally I'd like to see that sort of thing be dis-incentivized, if only to preserve the health of the male-female relationship

2019-01-26 23:28:33 UTC

Sexual promiscuity shouldn't be incentivized, it's shown to have a dire impact on divorce rates and happiness in relationships

This is commonly said, but those stats are correlative, not causative. BPD and sexual promiscuity go hand and hand; BPD is also basically an attachment disorder which causes unstable relationships

> I don't know, it honestly seems like sex work is becoming more and more something young women are turning toward, with sex cams, "premium snapchats" and hell, even Twitch to an extent

I've had some eye opening experiences lately. Lots of women who are prostitutes who won't admit it to themselves hanging around online dating sites looking for shopping, help with rent, cloths, whatever.

2019-01-27 07:28:54 UTC

You can try to not incentivise it however it is a product with a market, it’s going to happen no matter what you do, making it legal would reduce crime around it and also give protections for women and men who do sex work and the government can even tax it if they want, since it is a business.

2019-01-27 21:24:35 UTC

There's also a problem with the message - you aren't going to gain any traction with the 'we want to go back in time'/dislike of promiscuity talk because socially we're well past those questions - that came with available birth control. It is also far too easily conflated with the incel/mgtow movements.

2019-01-27 21:25:29 UTC

The truth of the matter is that we're seeing a 'levelling' of the sexual market where you're seeing different trends - and sex work is highly lucrative and so will of course be something people with few other prospects are drawn to, especially if there is no stigma.

2019-01-27 21:26:43 UTC

But we're seeing more clearly, imo, the resources/beauty dynamic - and I'm personally seeing this. It is difficult to navigate the 'legitimacy' of feelings vs just seeing someone as a good provider/attractive and I'm sure that contributes to the reduction in people planning to marry.

2019-01-27 21:30:53 UTC

I think we could make those arguments but stress that the larger MRM takes a non-partisan approach so we don't alienate the prolife side. It would be good if we could get both of those sides to agree with our core message, though I admit that could split the movement.

2019-01-27 21:38:23 UTC

Idd the issue for me has to be the message getting co-opted by people who are incredibly bitter, and driving moderate voices away. There are many who don't identify as Democrat or Republican who are looking for a movement where you're simply able to discuss these things. No judgement, no Trump hats, no 'so you're against abortion' logical fallacies - just debate.

2019-01-27 21:39:32 UTC

Debating facts is a waste of time

2019-01-27 21:40:01 UTC

surely that is exactly how we are going to get moderate people to see and understand the point of the movement?

2019-01-27 21:40:48 UTC

Otherwise you aren't able to break apart any of the 'false' facts used by other movements to push their ideologies. It just becomes who can scream the loudest.. and then mrm becomes primarily a protest movement.

2019-01-27 21:40:58 UTC

Which is fine - but longer term that seems to me that it'd poison the well.

2019-01-27 23:10:14 UTC

I worry about the relationship between men and women. So many things are causing a rift, from modern day feminism to sex dolls being a growing market. You can look at Japan and see, the man-woman relationship is very quickly dying there. They're in a crisis. I worry that legalizing prostitution will hurt more than it helps.

2019-01-27 23:15:49 UTC

I can see how it's not a popular sentiment, but what actually happens when any woman is able to legally sell sex?

2019-01-27 23:36:56 UTC

Will romance die, or will it flourish? Will the average woman lose power or will they gain it? Will promiscuity increase or decrease? If prostitution is legalized, how will that affect child support? Can any poor "John" get slammed with child support then because he had sex with a prostitute?

2019-01-27 23:41:06 UTC

romance is just the feeling we experience while high on our bodies chemicals that drive us to mate

2019-01-27 23:41:31 UTC

its all a farce

2019-01-27 23:41:41 UTC

a biochemical illusion

2019-01-27 23:44:51 UTC

Every emotion is a chemical reaction but that doesn't mean they don't matter. Our emotions are what give our lives meaning from start to finish

2019-01-27 23:46:35 UTC

I disagree

Everyone lives striving toward some sort of happiness or at least contentedness. Companionship goes a long way toward that
