Hi legendman, welcome
Hello!

So what are we all up to tonight?
😄
Going to see Mary queen of scots
Have fun.
Has anyone seen their weird thing? https://redd.it/abl94q
It's.... it's like a bunch of feminists sat down after watching The Red Pill and decided to throw men a bone.
And reject about half of their own ideology while still keeping the Deluth Model
But also men are awesome and masculinity is great.
IDK
anything that spawns from "intersectionality" is to be looked out with caution at best
And picked up with rubber gloves and tongs
I have the feeling that intersectionality is good in theory but then completely falls apart with the oppression olympics mentality
@Abbysol exactly, it always sounds good because it's based on ideas that are good on paper
it's quite sad really, because the theory prioritizes individuals, the right solution for one person may not be the right one for another person, it was sound, then they started grouping off and instead of looking for solutions they just try to work out which groups are most oppressed.
Oh, I don't think it's even good in theory
It just sounds good to certain people
well I think one of the biggest problems with it are that it focuses on trivial things like race when it should focus on things that impact people more like economic status, where you went to school, what state/country you where born in (in context of feminism) someone who is middle class from a decent income household is going to have different problems to a women born in a low income area, yet the majority of feminism is from that middle to upper class of women, a white women from a red lined district is going to face a lot of the same problems as a black women from the same area, yet intersectionality would suggest that the white women is going to have it too much easier, she will probably wonder why it is so hard then while the black women wonders why she should even bother if it is that difficult... it's why we should only point out problems if you plan on finding solutions.
Hey so is it just me or are women (objectively speaking) enforcing (I couldn't find a better word) the idea of toxic masculinity
I feel like a lot of women do but in a kind of round about way, I think there is confusion as to what masculinity actually is as it can get quite subjective in places.
Yea
Here's some interesting views on intersectionality: https://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/abf44f/i_was_skeptical_of_mra_but_single_moms_shocked_me/ed0ei4l/
I took the view that one of the potential base concepts of intersectionality is reasonable, just not very useful and often misused
The other guy there took the view that intersectionality is primarily a cover for bigotry
(which I don't *necessarily* disagree with, but I think is hard to substantiate)
Honestly, I agree with you. I think it would be nice to be able to focus on how people are affected on smaller, more individual/cultural levels, however we have to consider how often good ideas get misused.
yeah, good on paper, falls apart in practice... like communism 😄
Look at it from the intersection outward and it looks a lot like they are arbitrarily declaring a bunch of groups to be oppressors by engaging the usual tribal thinking.
