2018-12-23 16:10:36 UTC

``Welfare States are Neo Liberal```

```As an economic philosophy, neoliberalism emerged among European liberal scholars in the 1930s as they attempted to trace a so-called "third" or "middle" way between the conflicting philosophies of classical liberalism and socialist planning.[24]:14–15 The impetus for this development arose from a desire to avoid repeating the economic failures of the early 1930s, which neoliberals mostly blamed on the economic policy of classical liberalism. In the decades that followed, the use of the term "neoliberal" tended to refer to theories which diverged from the more laissez-faire doctrine of classical liberalism and which promoted instead a market economy under the guidance and rules of a strong state, a model which came to be known as the social market economy. ```
lmao try again Storm
2018-12-23 16:12:21 UTC
I don't understand lefists
2018-12-23 16:12:28 UTC
Neoliberals are just communists in denial.
2018-12-23 16:12:36 UTC
Neoliberalism is literally a revival of classical liberalism and classical economics
2018-12-23 16:12:37 UTC
But it's funny af to watch then fight amongst themselfs
2018-12-23 16:12:44 UTC
:comfypepe:
2018-12-23 16:12:45 UTC
The fall of the orthodox social democracy directly correlates with the emergence of the first neoliberals
2018-12-23 16:13:25 UTC
I don't think there are any parties, again perhaps except PSUV, that's doing anything even resembling "orthodox/classical social democracy"
2018-12-23 16:13:26 UTC
The stated goal of the neoliberals was to destroy Keynes and Keynesianism and Social Democracy
2018-12-23 16:13:32 UTC
@Xinyue they are for state intervention in the economy more than classical liberals.. so they're like socdems?
2018-12-23 16:13:44 UTC
the current "socdems" yes
2018-12-23 16:13:46 UTC
very similar
2018-12-23 16:14:00 UTC
wat
2018-12-23 16:14:14 UTC
if you haven't noticed that's basically what contemporary social democrats do
2018-12-23 16:14:29 UTC
just intervention in economy and guidance of the national economy under "social market economic" praxis
2018-12-23 16:14:35 UTC
Name a contemporary Social Democrat
2018-12-23 16:14:36 UTC
Bill Clinton wasn't a Social Democrat 😩
2018-12-23 16:14:53 UTC
Bill Clinton does not count
2018-12-23 16:14:58 UTC
He was a liberal
2018-12-23 16:15:01 UTC
NeoLibs =/= SocDems
2018-12-23 16:15:08 UTC
he was NeoLib
2018-12-23 16:15:21 UTC
> Name a contemporary Social Democrat
Hmmm. In the orthodox sense? The PSUV, perhaps Corbyn. But in this diluted sense? Perhaps Sanders, Cortez.
2018-12-23 16:15:40 UTC
Corbyn is similar to a Neo Liberal to you?
2018-12-23 16:15:48 UTC
I specifically said in the orthodox sense
2018-12-23 16:16:05 UTC
Corbyn is closer to old labour and Social Democracy
2018-12-23 16:16:07 UTC
if you can't see the difference between Theresa May and Corbyn idk what to tell ya :/
2018-12-23 16:16:19 UTC
I tell you that you aren't keeping up, Storm, with what i say
2018-12-23 16:17:22 UTC
Is Corbyn Orthodox Christian?
2018-12-23 16:17:29 UTC
I said that the ***emergence of the neoliberals directly correlate with the emergence of the faux social democracy*** - the death of its original socialist content. Corbyn and PSUV bear stronger resemblance to the *orthodox social democracy* that still had genuine socialism as its goal, as opposed to Cortez and Sanders and the rest of the arguably "corporate" quasi-neoliberal socdem types that want to maintain capitalism.
2018-12-23 16:17:32 UTC
I knew he is Russian at heart.
2018-12-23 16:17:32 UTC
i don't think you're keeping up with the times man, you use words in their 1920s definition.. just deleting decades of progression in thought of that ideology
2018-12-23 16:18:09 UTC
```neo liberal socdems```

2018-12-23 16:18:13 UTC

wah

2018-12-23 16:18:22 UTC

There HASN'T BEEN ANY DEVELOPMENT in the "thought" of Social Democracy. No works like those of Kautsky, Lassalle, etc. exist for the "current" social democrats
