French equipment was actually really good, especially for early war
Ah yes the Maginot line
100 IQ play
Stop
the MAS-36, though it wasn’t able to fully replace other rifles by time of the invasion, was still a very good rifle
“de zhermans vent Aron de maginot lin”
Stronger than Germany but no country was really prepared to mobilise and at that low rate of preparedness Defense holds the advantage
Late interwar period french tanks were also very good
Shame they counldn't use them
Specifically the S-35 and Char B1
@CronoSaturn Hitler wasn't as powerful at the time either. And USSR proposed an alliance with France to stop the expansion of Germany, but was inevitably rejected.
The main thing was that the French equipment, though very good, was quite expensive to make
There is a reason why French tanks have one gear ahead and three gears backwards.
the Char B1 was one of the better tanks any army could field in the early years of the war
Same with German stuff prewar
Keep in mind that the ussr wasn’t exactly a known factor either and that balance of power has always been the key in European politics
When did the USSR start expanding?
or unifying lol
In fact, the main tank used by the Germans in the early war was the Panzer I or Panzer II, mixed in with their newer and heavier tank
And I’m not so much talking equipment quality as logistics, domestic support and deployability
Allies got outplayed and
they fucked up
How long did it take to defeat France again?
I disagree, as shown by the allies winning the war
The Germans held up against 4 world superpowers
I think losing France and the Low Countries for several years was being outplayed
@Deleted User Like I said, French tactics was a big thing that played out poorly for them
I wouldn’t call being being a divided country for decades after a stunning play
It was punishment
Don’t start fights you can’t win
the Germans during the Blitzkrieg mixed their armored divisions well, putting the lighter armored and armed Panzer I and Panzer II mixed in with their heavier tanks
They just ran out of fuel
@CronoSaturn Outstanding move
Lol
Point being though Anglo starting a resource war with no resources where pretty much the only country willing to trade with you is only doing so to give you enough rope?
Not a fantastic idea
Had it of just been Anschluss and Czechoslovakia we might have had a different conversation
But it wasn’t
And we arnt
