what vest
what age
what humidity

what load
what location
what condition
how many rounds
There's a reason NIJ tests are done the way they are.
All of those factors affect textile armor
I have yet to find any compelling evidence showing that .22LR can defeat 3a
Which is why they're generally used alongside or as reinforcement to solid armor like cermaics or metals
the reason why it is probably not addressed is because they can't define an all-encompassing criteria for what .22LR it should defeat
Exactly.
I'm sure that there is some load of .22LR out there that you can fire from a 26 inch barrel that may defeat 3A given specific conditions
however 99% of common use .22LR firearms and loads will be defeated by 3A
Because no backyard nigger plinker .22 is firing at a proper target in a proper test environment, and nowhere near the required number of plates or shots.
IIIA testing is something like 300 rounds against 20+ plates
At varying standard environmental ranges and conditions
it's not going though
Textile armor is so weak against small projectiles it's causing a shift to solid armors
ok, you let us know when you're done with your NIJ testing how that goes
NIJ 0101.04 does state that level 1 will defeat .22LR
lol
0101.04 was superceded.
NIJ FIGHT
Test methods differ between publications
Which, given the trog-tier test methods used by some of the really old publications, is why you go with the newest one.
It makes no logical sense that they would regress from .04 to .06 to no longer cover .22LR
Again, changing test methods provide alternate results.
For instance, in the old NIJ test model, they used a BFD clay that provided inaccurate results
point is that you are mkaing it seem like any pack of walmart .22LR fired from a 10/22 will shred a 3A to bits
which is far from the actual truth
Fuck no and I never said that
A .22LR customized for AP by dremeling the top and molding a resin tip would have a good chance.
"Soft vests get shrek'd by basically everything"
Yeah they do.
They can't even stop +P 9mm loads
In fact, barring III+, most of the test criteria use light projectiles and light loads.
So I am assuming that you are using this data as justification for you not employing any soft armor?
