Does anyone know where I can find a front placard for a plate carrier that has more than 6 rows of molle?
looked didn't see
I need a swiftclip attachment to my carrier, not a full on rig
I'm using a velocity PC with their placard now
but it only has 6 rows
err 6 columns
I'm literally one column of molle short from being able to fit all my work-issued gear without having to move shit to my belt
Is there a better place to ask?
you have a discord link?
or you meaning the forum?
I see thanks
"Oi, ye got a loisence for that coup that you're holding?!?!?"
plastic tip was designed for expansion and ballistics not for penetration
a level 3a will stop any .22LR easily
the point of body armor is twofold, it will protect you from getting killed and it will absorb the shot allowing you to shoot back
talking level 3A aramid woven
yes 3a textile will stop 36gr moving at under 1200 fps
think about it like this, a 9mm is 115gr+ moving at about 1k
and 3a defeats it handily
wouldn't you think 36gr moving at 1200 would be defeated just as easily?
but its only 36gr dude
you can get that much FPS from a 36 gr projo out of an airgun
so you are telling me an airgun could theoretically defeat 3a?
compare to a 223 which is a 55gr+ at 2800fps+
big difference
agreed
think about it like this, 5.7 cannot defeat 3a most of the time
and it has higher sectional density and higher velocity than .22LR
no, there's really no other way to address it than you are wrong
.22lr will not penetrate soft armor
except it doesn't?
plenty of video evidence on youtube proving otherwise
think about it from a liability standpoint k?
theres tons of companies producing NIJ standard armor
which are rated for specific calibers
if a cop is shot by said caliber
wearing NIJ armor
that is supposed to stop it
would that not make a juicy case for a slam dunk lawsuit?
that being said, how exactly is it that these companies stay in business?
unless their armor actually stops the rated threat
discussion is related to .22lr not .17hmr
I have yet to find any compelling evidence showing that .22LR can defeat 3a
the reason why it is probably not addressed is because they can't define an all-encompassing criteria for what .22LR it should defeat
I'm sure that there is some load of .22LR out there that you can fire from a 26 inch barrel that may defeat 3A given specific conditions
however 99% of common use .22LR firearms and loads will be defeated by 3A
NIJ 0101.04 does state that level 1 will defeat .22LR
It makes no logical sense that they would regress from .04 to .06 to no longer cover .22LR
point is that you are mkaing it seem like any pack of walmart .22LR fired from a 10/22 will shred a 3A to bits
which is far from the actual truth
"Soft vests get shrek'd by basically everything"
So I am assuming that you are using this data as justification for you not employing any soft armor?
Because I cam
I can't see the buy in for you pushing so hard for no armor?
Let's assume you are in an urban environment like a street cop, a 3A vest will stop the most common firearms threats you are liklely to encounter
and would be more effective in the majority of situations vice a veramic hardplate
if you are in a combat zone against enemies armed with rifle threats and long range, a ceramic hardplate would make sense
a 3A vest would offer more than twice the area coverage effective against your most likely threat
versus a rifle plate
so I would take the 3A which will stop all handgun threats and 99.9% of .22LR versus a rifle plate which will only cover less than half of my torso
question
have you worn both before?
and conducted daily activity
or just play time?
and training?
ok
well I wear 3A on a daily basis with an option for plates if I choose
I don't wear plates because they significantly limit my mobility
and my chances of encountering a rifle threat are far lower than handgun
try getting in and out of a car about 20-30 times a day with plates on
I'll leave it to your imagination ๐
I actually bought my own plates to supplement my issued armor
I wore them for like 2 weeks and said "fuck this shit"
front and back swimmers cut 10x12
approx .6 inch thick
wearing front plate only will make you feel off-balance and like a hunchback
if I was in afg I would definitely wear plates, but on the street in nig-town, no
I disagree
I pull guns off nigs a lot and to encounter a rifle is rare
actually tbh, I will rarely pull an actual quality piece off a nig
most of the time it is something like a lorcin or raven or at best a taurus
^ that is it actually you hit the point
most guys dont wear soft armor
because it is hot as fuck
increases your body temp like 10-15 degrees
yes
that's why mil guys want plates only
because you can breathe in between your plates
but the soft armor wraps tight
at the end of the day, I feel safer with 3A than plates for my specific purpose
See, most migs carry handguns primarily for the fact they are concealable. If your rival nig comes by your hood, you want to be able to pull it out of your waistband and shoot back asap
most of them don't own cars so where u gonna put the rifle
if they got rifles, they are at home
if a nig is barricaded in his house, with possible rifle, I ain't going in with my 3A, I'm calling SWAT
Honestly though like you said, its a trade-off right?
most people don't realize how strenuous it is to wear body armor for 10 hours a day
if I could wear plates and armor I would
but I would destroy my spine and lumbar before retirement
so basically I suggest wearing the MINIMUM amount of protection possible that is comfortable to you
