wait, so they have been saying their project is socialist, their party, their ideal, their economic policies, their food distribution.... but they still ain't socialists?

there is one thing to say that all of that is socialist and one completely different thing actually making it socialist

then I suppose when talking about Venezuela it's better to either name the government something else or to assume, for the case of that country that we are talking about something else

Now, I do recall we can talk about socialism in different ways. Seeing Society as a whole which can put its societal well-being before the individual freedoms of its members is something that I have heard to be called "socialism" (I think related to Plato's views), not too different from Corporativism

And Chavism does follow that overall philosophy.

Also, they have struggled to keep control of the market, to subvert private property in favor of state property, to state-based social programs that have taken a large role in social welfare and survival, to control the distribution of food.... all those things point to socialism
