well 5x5 is great for starters and for ppl gaining strength
but not as good on the cutting end
i'm more of fan of high reps
super setting up and down
i guess i’ll have to do 8x8 if i want to cut

that's more diet than lifting. working out is important but people who look like that spend more effort on eating than gym routine, this is also applicable for strong man competitors.
if you want a workout regime were you can "cheat" and eat whenever and what ever you want look in the Ranger Handbook, do Triathlete routines, or do cross country and distance running.
