2018-07-12 19:38:46 UTC

@Thomas O'Malley my point is she doesnt have the same appeal

2018-07-12 19:38:51 UTC

shes much more white presenting than obama

2018-07-12 19:39:35 UTC

blacks here also have a very macho culture. I dont think theyd go for her. Shes too young and too female.

2018-07-12 22:19:10 UTC

Okay fair enough. But if she gets nominated, and I think she will, Black people will still vote for her.

2018-07-12 22:20:16 UTC

They voted for Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, and Al Gore despite them being boring old white people. They'll certainly vote for one of their own, no matter how boring he or she is.

2018-07-12 23:02:13 UTC

Nah, Hillary might try again, but if she does she will lose.

2018-07-12 23:04:01 UTC

That's why I hope she does run again.

2018-07-12 23:04:05 UTC

However, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will more than likely make a potential winning run for it within 10 years or so. Becomming first female president and youngest president.

2018-07-12 23:04:33 UTC

She can win in a deep blue district, but not in the rest of the country.

2018-07-12 23:04:56 UTC

In fact the DNC may finally nut up, and backstab HIllary by letting her run again so they can declare her over and pave the way for cortez.

2018-07-12 23:05:24 UTC

True, but she's already being groomed. You can tell aame thing they did for Obama.

2018-07-12 23:06:07 UTC

She'll probably come out as bisexual or somehting like that and clench it.

2018-07-12 23:06:38 UTC

My friends and I used to do that back in the late 90's. Creat the optimal Democratic candidate.

2018-07-12 23:07:44 UTC

I think we came up with "A half black, half native american, bisexual, wheelchair bound. single mother, who did not speak fluent english and had HIV"

2018-07-12 23:07:58 UTC

Cortez is too far left to win. The Democrats tried this before with McGovern in 1972 and he lost in a landslide.

2018-07-12 23:08:35 UTC

She's not going to run against trump in 2020. I'm thinking 2024, 2028.

2018-07-12 23:08:46 UTC

Many Democrats are center left and they aren't going to vote for someone who called the abolish ICE.

2018-07-12 23:08:58 UTC

Even Bernie came out against abolishing ICE.

2018-07-12 23:09:15 UTC

The will if she's groomed and set up for around eight or so years.

2018-07-12 23:09:32 UTC

Obama was against gay marriage at one point.

2018-07-12 23:09:50 UTC

There are also all kinds of stories about what a radical he was in college.

2018-07-12 23:10:06 UTC

So you think she'll move to the center?

2018-07-12 23:10:24 UTC

Yeah Obama's mentor was a communist terrorist named Bill Ayers.

2018-07-12 23:10:29 UTC

A bit, at least on the record. That's part of the grooming process.

2018-07-12 23:10:55 UTC

Learning proper Optics and PR stuff.

2018-07-12 23:12:03 UTC

On the other hand, Obama only became famous after his speech at the 2004 Democratic convention. By that time he had already given up being a radical. Cortez entered the public eye as a radical.

2018-07-12 23:42:35 UTC

I think the "radical" thing is also going to matter less and less moving forward. U.S. politics has been a game of race to the bottom underhandedness since the nixosn administration. Possibly earlier.

2018-07-12 23:43:41 UTC

Nixon did nothing wrong. By that I mean a lot less than previous presidents had done. However, because he wasn't as charasmatic as some previous presidents the leftist media decided to flex their muscles by destroying him.

2018-07-12 23:44:54 UTC

However, that was a bad move in the long term because it set up a whole series of bad prescidents. Nixon's impeachment led directly to Clinton's. Clinton weaseling out of it is why george w bush was elected.

2018-07-12 23:45:36 UTC

Obama was a return salvo from the left. To "Trigger the racists."

2018-07-12 23:45:46 UTC

Trump was in turn a response to that.

2018-07-12 23:46:25 UTC

So being considered "A radical extremist" by your opposition is a point in your favor now. Not against it.

2018-07-12 23:47:01 UTC

In fact, left or right, the louder you make your enemies "reeee" the better

2018-07-13 00:07:15 UTC

I think you're right, but there is still a lot of people in the center who won't like Cortez. Or her equivalent on the right for that matter.

2018-07-13 01:10:40 UTC

Is there going to be a stream tonight?

2018-07-13 01:11:30 UTC

I think so. Sometimes orwell doesn't post it here though.
