I want to ask, is a STEM field generally free from women?

2018-09-27 12:37:19 UTC

The goal isnโ€™t to have a family out in another country though. Just to experience new culture and travel.

2018-09-27 12:37:37 UTC

I don't mind my teaching job. But I am considering phasing out my profession in the future

2018-09-27 12:38:16 UTC

No. I work in STEM. Technology is being pushed to get more women. However, I only see women as project managers, product managers or designers / front end. I donโ€™t see many actual engineers being women.

2018-09-27 12:38:45 UTC

Mechanical engineering - no women. Computer engineering - few women. Trades - few women.

2018-09-27 12:38:51 UTC

From my limited experience. *

2018-09-27 12:38:53 UTC

so basically the managers and positions of power ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

2018-09-27 12:39:14 UTC

Ive considered coding and cyber security

2018-09-27 12:39:15 UTC

Well, more like schedulers.

2018-09-27 12:39:39 UTC

Iโ€™m in information security. All project management is female. All compliance is women.

2018-09-27 12:39:58 UTC

Anything to do with telling other people what to do but not knowing anything - is a female.

2018-09-27 12:40:02 UTC

๐Ÿ˜ฆ

2018-09-27 12:40:09 UTC

some future us men have

2018-09-27 12:40:54 UTC

All the males are in technical roles. Like itโ€™s actually funny when you walk in. The entire left side are the engineers. The entire right side are the project managers, compliance and managers.

2018-09-27 12:41:18 UTC

This guy got posting privileges up in here

2018-09-27 12:41:27 UTC

๐Ÿ˜ฎ

2018-09-27 12:41:39 UTC

Honestly, I donโ€™t care about the future anymore. I just want to stash the cash and plan on bouncing. I will build my own SaaS products and never hire anyone so Iโ€™ll be fine to make a living and do what I want.

2018-09-27 12:41:57 UTC

hmmm

2018-09-27 12:42:04 UTC

what about drafting

2018-09-27 12:42:23 UTC

is that a decent paying and viable career? I miss building stuff

2018-09-27 12:42:55 UTC

Drafting as in mechanical?

2018-09-27 12:43:13 UTC

I think thatโ€™s largely male still but a lot of females since it is more design orientated.

2018-09-27 12:43:13 UTC

ummm either

2018-09-27 12:43:19 UTC

mechanical or technical

2018-09-27 12:43:33 UTC

Oh yeah product design is usually male/female but tooling drafting is all men.

2018-09-27 12:43:47 UTC

hmmmmm

2018-09-27 12:43:54 UTC

and its way cheaper than a degree

2018-09-27 12:43:57 UTC

Women want the recognition of working on the product itself.

2018-09-27 12:44:07 UTC

Possibly! I am not sure.

2018-09-27 12:44:10 UTC

nothing is new under the sun

2018-09-27 12:44:16 UTC

women wanting credit

2018-09-27 12:45:06 UTC

Yeah, I just give it to them. What do I care. My boss see my commits and work done. I have nothing to prove.

2018-09-27 12:45:12 UTC

Yeah dark prophit is a sperg

2018-09-27 12:45:18 UTC

Confirmed

2018-09-27 12:45:37 UTC

๐Ÿค”

2018-09-27 12:45:46 UTC

good stance to take

2018-09-27 12:45:59 UTC

definitely practical in the long term

2018-09-27 12:49:11 UTC

Locus of control is limited. My fucks to give are limited. My power is within.

2018-09-27 12:49:22 UTC

I like that mantra

2018-09-27 12:49:53 UTC

Do you guys think I should move to CA to chase $150-250k engineering gigs or simply work for a big company in a cheaper area with less political mess?

2018-09-27 12:50:11 UTC

150 to 250k ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
