Okay, the way dtube works is

they post to your steem account that a video of you is there with the details on it

the video itself is hosted via ipfs which is a more advance version of what would be comparable to torrent

d.tube doesnt host your video for all that long itself if you dont also have a node where you pin it.

(or make a lot of money from it, 25% of which dtube gets and they use a portion of that to pay for storage to keep your video up)

so as long as your video gains traffic it is on the net

you can just get a raspberry pi and run an ipfs node on that to pin your videos to

well, yeah. If it gains traffic its kept up by other nodes, but the money isnt actualy tied to traffic

they dont have advertisments on it.

The money is based on your post to the steem blockchain which generates cryptocurrency for you based on the likes it receives within 7 days of posting.

by the way, regularly more profitable than youtube with its ads.

becouse they dont store your video for you by default for a longer time

you have to run your own ipfs node to keep it up. Which, on the flip side, also means nobody can take it down without raiding your home
