I know that a lot of you guys work in tech and whatnot, so is it true, in your opinions, that there is a "tech worker shortage?" I've heard a lot of statistics both ways to argue that there is or isn't an actual shortage, and I was wondering if it was just bullshit pushed to support the H1B visa program. I don't work in tech, so I can't really say.

Any kind of "worker shortage" is code for "we have too few people applying for jobs, let in more people so we can keep wages down"

Even if there is a shortage, the market would pull people to change majors to fill that shortage in a short period of time. Its just an excuse to depress wages. Also, the gov pays companies to hire foreigners.

there's a shortage of brown people to meet diversity requirements, and pressure to preserve margins to make high risk investments pan out, easiest way to do that is to cut your labor costs
