we have a lot of leftards here in michigan, but we still passed that action
@SuperHeroDeluxe if i assume correct, they will continue to be "searching for work"
yeah, i hate that part
so nothing will change
if they can prove they're looking, they can stay on it
some of them aren't that motivated
it'll chip down the welfare a bit
@Brue that's still better than just letting them sit at home and collect
i'm not a defeatist with things like this, a move in the right direction is better than nothing
@Benjamin Henry i agree, but i asked about cutting welfare entirely, i dont see that as getting passed at all, ever
if one state would do it and showed really positive results, that could be an awesome thing
That's why I suggested the promotion of personal charity
You're far more likely to make a legitimate effort if you actually know who gave you the money
im not sure what yo're pointing out @Brue
@SuperHeroDeluxe hold on one state has not shown any results yet
if a state did that, and could point at improvements, other legislatures might join in
@Benjamin Henry do you have a better way to do this than earlier?
@SuperHeroDeluxe of course i agree
i don't have high hopes for it
i still dont see any results though, and i doubt even if it did eliminate people on welfare, those people will vote to get it back in the following years
of past programs to get rid of welfare and then a reaction to put it back
not really data, more like individual cases in the past
i believe it is possible to do this sort of thing and not slide back as long as we make sure there is legislation to interfere with sliding back
i was born and raised in california, i am pretty sure it would be impossible to accomplish there, i'll give ya that
okay so atleast in california, if we cannot get rid of it, or lessen it, can we atleast give people the ability to choose where to spend it and not government mandate only certain items
spit it out blade
i have hopes we can accomplish these things because there's been a lot of "thatll never happen" good things going on the last 3 years
@SuperHeroDeluxe FAIR
like gun sanctuaries
10 years ago i would never have thought states would put into law to not cooperate with federal law
@SuperHeroDeluxe would be easier with increased crime punishments
i don't think far future punishments stop people who are using crack
@SuperHeroDeluxe it will remove them from the system and enable the passing of legislation you want to be approved
i think that prisons for violent offenders is mostly useful for giving those people a time-out until their testosterone levels lower. keep them locked up until their mid-30s and they slow down a lot with the impulsive stuff
@SuperHeroDeluxe and then they get out in their mid 30s and have children who have similar impluse control problems at a young age and perpetuate the cycle
we could go on all day with the possible "what about"'s
and then they are hurt by society and will vote (atleast in florida now) for democrat liberal redistribution
get them out of society, keep them out, fix the problem with the legislative process and ease the people in the cycle off of it by passing your legislation
@ArawnBlade speak my dude, i keep seeing ya type, we are nice i swear
i prefer less legislation, i'd like to see more removed
