Let felons gather the ballots
Creates an environment rich for abuse, with collectors historically discarding unwanted ballots while submitting ballots for their candidate.
And, arm the felons while we're at it
why don’t we all just have voter ID and then vote from our phones with our voter ID
Voter ID laws should be a no-brainer. Democrats defend 'the rural vote' - despite that everyone has an ID in today's age.
That made sense in the 1920s. It's a laughable defense in 2020.
You could literally vote from your phone with 2-factor authentication and a photo copy of a state-issued ID
That would actually be fucking easier than dealing with ballot boxes.
yah, voteing ID really should be one of the strongest IDs out there, not the weakest.
though, i'm going to be against E-voteing of any kind, to easy to hack into stuff with out leaveing any kind of trail.
Democrats require ID to attend their events against voter ID 🤡
I just wish there was a way to serialise ballots with out breaking anonymity.
E-Voting presents challenges, but provides database validation. Instantly check who you voted for, how many voter's are registered, and how many votes were placed.
It's a system that provides integrity - something our current system lacks entirely.
I'd like to be able to check my vote with my phone so I can verify it was recorded correctly.

here, this guy does a much better job of explaining it then i will.
Electronic voting is Cringe; all hail the Paper Ballot
Paper ballot is rife with vulnerabilities. E-Voting is no different, but provides the means to *validate* votes and voters.
I am ok with ballot's made to be counted by machines, but they should also be countable by people.
maybe every voting house could have an infra red flare indicating one candidate or the other
i've got an idea, let's not let dead people vote
Databases are the future regardless. It just makes sense to move to an E-vote model. Provide voters with PIV cards for 2-Factor auth. Let them get a printed copy of their ballot at the polls.
All of this saves millions, provides voter integrity, and allows you to instantly validate your district's votes.
until one person hacks into that database and does what ever they want to it.
I agree that district databases should still be separate.
But this isn't that hard to implement, and is lightyears better than the current system.
even still, that wouldn't add any security.
and this is a system that only is used what once a year? less?
big companies can't even launch new platforms with out tons of bugs and the ACA website was even worse.
I don't trust computers to do this.
It would require legislation similar to HIPPA or CCPA. I would trust a system that provides instant validation over an archaic paper ballot distribution that will always yield errors and be subject to exploitation.
As far as security, Defcon's take on current ballot systems and their wide disparity in make/model currently in place is far more terrifying that an overarching architecture.
People with older model phones will claim they are oppressed because the app is slower and it caused him to miss a vote
They couldn't listen to mumble rap and vote at the same time on the same device, this is clearly racist
I support the idea of being able to *check your vote* on the phone - but still required attendance at a physical location to *cast your vote*
How often does an update for software totaly break it?
You think that wouldn't happen with this system?
If all states work on standardized hardware - that require patching before being placed in operation - it's pretty foolproof.
Banks operate on the same model.
If you want real security put live streams at the counting places.
Take it back to the CIA model - Confidentiality to only be able to check who you voted for with a provided voter registration number and phone number as 2-factor auth.
