republicans are boomers

2020-01-09 11:47:08 UTC

you're a boomer

2020-01-09 11:47:13 UTC

Not if we're judging on meme ability

2020-01-09 14:48:22 UTC

Judges having the ability to push nation-wide injunctions is retarded.

2020-01-09 14:50:26 UTC

Judges enforcing the constitution is fine. The injunction was unlawful to begin with

2020-01-09 14:51:15 UTC

A border wall is well under the umbrella of national defense. It should be payed for from military budget

2020-01-09 14:53:06 UTC

A lower court judge managed to block this for I have no idea how long. So much of this garbage by activist judges end up getting reversed.

2020-01-09 14:55:59 UTC

Specifically California lower court judges. They literally campaigned on trying up Trump in legal battles to stop him from doing any work. Setting aside the bullshit idea of elected judges

2020-01-09 14:56:13 UTC

The Courts should not be used for political agendas... but they are.

2020-01-09 14:57:09 UTC

The whole idea of the system we have was to keep as much of the government apolitical as possible

2020-01-09 14:57:18 UTC

Courts always have politics in them

2020-01-09 14:57:28 UTC

The US system just seems to readily accept this

2020-01-09 14:57:58 UTC

We could reduce it allot by getting rid of judge elections

2020-01-09 14:58:07 UTC

Sheriff too

2020-01-09 14:58:20 UTC

I mean I don't think that would help

2020-01-09 14:58:30 UTC

Because appointed judges are hugely political

2020-01-09 14:58:59 UTC

yeah, at least they are accountable to someone in that case. for federal judgeships the appointment is lifetime. they are accountable to no one and therefore free to do whatever they wish to push an agenda

2020-01-09 14:59:00 UTC

Make it a nomination system, meaning you don't get to put yourself forward

2020-01-09 14:59:14 UTC

A petition in your name to run perhaps

2020-01-09 14:59:31 UTC

I mean elections work via you getting nominations from others to get on the ballot

2020-01-09 15:00:13 UTC

No, as it is anyone can run for whatever. They just have to declare intent

2020-01-09 15:00:23 UTC

And be prepared to campaign

2020-01-09 15:00:54 UTC

Dunno if that's true. Almost every election, even smaller ones tend to require an amount of people to nominate someone who wants to run.

2020-01-09 15:01:54 UTC

Party nominations are bs, that's just the same issue as appointed roles

2020-01-09 15:02:46 UTC

Nothing to do with party as far as I'm aware. It's just nominations to stand in an election.

2020-01-09 15:03:04 UTC

What state are you in?

2020-01-09 15:03:36 UTC

I'm not. However I'd be surprised if the US had elections without any requirements for standing.

2020-01-09 15:03:43 UTC

We do

2020-01-09 15:03:51 UTC

Land of the free

2020-01-09 15:05:51 UTC

You seem to have very high ballot access requirements

2020-01-09 15:06:01 UTC

And for Congress I can agree with it. They've accumulated too much power, and have become disconnected, but they were supposed to be the closest connection to the public and what their concerns are. Judicial branch is supposed to be an unwavering apolitical keeper of the law.

2020-01-09 15:06:35 UTC

Yes, Dems have put in allot of gatekeeping

2020-01-09 15:06:43 UTC

Which is unconstitutional
