i mean you could argue that intent plays a factor, but that's true of most crimes
I dont really think theres much difference in having and opinion and expressing an opinion
and i mean of course, i don't think liberalism is necessarily contingent on this hardline conception of self-ownership
are you saying everyone should just shut up and not share any opinion in case it offends someone?
of course there's a difference
i'm not saying anybody do anything i'm just saying i don't necessarily think suppression of speech is inherently anti-liberal
its about the most anti-liberal thing I can think of
i mean i think the best argument that it is would be that it infringes on the division between the state and civil society, but of course, there's already precedence for this in things like anti-incitement laws
in some ways it seems like a natural progression of liberalism
Genocide is sometimes the optimal solution, if we had of genocided all the commies, lefties, and righties our society would be much healthier
many old liberals went to the extent of advocating against capitalism on the basis that it interfered with liberty
ie advocating for restrictions in the economic sphere to preserve a greater sum of liberty
moving to civil society seems like a natural progression to me
there you go... storin has a dumbass opinion... he is free to share it
My dumbass opinion is correct <:SmugPepe:510408646807519233>
Murder all the insane people
see... he's not hurting anyone by voicing his opinion
Its not a call to action.... yet.... <:SmugPepe:510408646807519233>
Just a suggestion
are you seriously suggesting it would be the liberal thing to do, to arrest storin now?
<:bootlet:595693013754314752>
that does not sound like a liberal society to me
maybe, though this would be a particularly extreme example
dank got arrested for less
You are going to the camps as well A-rab
<:PepeLaugh:565528391336329216>
it just seems like liberalism enforced on a cultural level to me
cultural memes that interfere with a liberal conception of man are suppressed
thats the issue, you start moving away from the individual and start talking about groups and culture as a whole
Tribalism
Where you do something someone doesn't like and thei tribe gets to rape your daughter as compensation
I seen it in Africa, do you really want it <:SmugPepe:510408646807519233>
but the idea is that these norms lead to a move away from treating people as individuals
if you allow "racism" to propagate then that will lead to a less "individualistic" society
right, but the way you address that is not in a group manner.. its individualistic... and everyone is innocent until proven guilty
and if you're operating off of the presumption that there are no meaningful differences between the races or sexes or whatever then these sorts of things become a lot more problematic in this regard
sure it's individualistic in that you prosecute individuals for contributing to this
i mean don't get me wrong, i can see why liberals who are very focused on state power would see this as anti-liberal
and I would argue, an individual going on a rant about white people is not arrest worthy
