Unless you explain how it is that's a bit nonsensical.
their policies
If you don't think party politics were a massive force as early as the end of the 17th century you're wrong
Which policies?
abortion, mnarriage, size of government, minimum wage, taxation
do i need to go on?
no you need to explain.
they have taken a left wing position on these issues
What position have they taken in your view
and how is it left
MOAR min wage - okay lefty
1929 poster
How do you define left vs right?
conservation of the institute of marriage? nah, thats not worth saving - okay lefty
Jes on point
bigger government
more spending
When Fascists and Hereditarian's meet
removing individual rights over the collective
Not being as left as Labour does not make them actual conservatives, this is the only way I can see them being viewed as not pretty damn left
when Blair won his second term the Tories took a huge shift to the left
as they feared never winning again
*took a huge shit to the left
even the media of the time commented on it
on wikipedia-conservatives under "boris johnson" .....
...
"Since the election, a number of far-right activists claim to have joined the Conservatives, prompting concerns over entryism."
wot
1971 Manifesto for them even mentioned voluntary repatriation 😔
Idk who they might refer to Wacka, did Tommy join?
I don't recall him doing that
apparently britain first memebers
@Jes
If you define the existance of a minimum wage as being left then that's left wing.
I'm not sure what you mean about the institute of marriage. It still exists. They even have a tax break purely for married people.
Bigger government was never a non-Conservative thing until Margaret Thatcher, the idea that conservatives or the Conservatives have been anti-authoritarian isn't a thing historically or now.
I notice though you didn't point out how they've been non-Conservative on taxation.
member Owen jones is a verified contributer on wikipedia - has been for years so pinch of salt
no tax break my dude, tony blair scrapped that
The "existance of minimum wage" isn't really the issue, the issue is that whenever labour brings up raising it the conservative response isn't to argue the other side it's to say "ok but not that much"
which they do on
many issues
There literally exists a married tax break. @Jes https://www.gov.uk/marriage-allowance
