Smiling in a chimps can mean they're trying to intimidate you or that they're fucking terrified. It's basically a fight or flight expression for them. They're either going to run the fuck away or fuck shit up.
An angry chimp with shout and bash things and generally seem like a angry human yob. Tbh it's worse if they smile tho, because if they decide to attack you then they're doing it because they think their survival is on the line.

People are arguing over whether this represents moderates or extremists joining.
Also I think this proves that mass membership isn't necessarily good for a party. After all Labour keeps being help hostage by this rabid core that represents only 2% of the total voter base. And the more their party leans into that 2% the more they will shed the 30% other voters who aren't in that 2%.

Also, it really is a time of political change. There's this guy called Erjavec that presided over the retirees' party for what seems to be millennia and basically took part in every coalition. Got unseated at the recent party congress.
