It's quite fully pissed me off because it has the potential to entirely derail my life
Hopefully when they see how unpopular the policy is they will decide against implementing it
People won't realise for 10-15 years
They don't know how fucking expensive electric cars are, even used
^
i still want to know what we're supposed to do about the used market being a minefield of cars with shagged batteries requiring several thousands of pounds to have them replaced
What they should really do if they want to stop as many people buying diesel cars is help lower the price of electric cars
The cheapest serviceable electric car on autotrader tonight, used, is more expensive that most people spend on a used car of any kind
They can't, Lizard
They could try and subside the industry
There isn't that much money out there
And set a cap on the cost of them
You would have to subsidise both the new and used market
It ain't going to happen
Force the prices low and subside the industries so they can afford it
How do you force the prices low low?
Set a price cap on it
Then no electric cars will be sold
Or Nationalise the Industry
Lot's of ways to do it
I'm just saying that they could have easily encouraged people to stop buying diesel cars without just banning them
Don't bother, legislate that public transport and commercial vehicles go electric first, and you sit back and wait for the market to act on private cars
No, they can't
my little runabout is petrol but so clean it's zero rated tax, and the CO rating in last weeks MOT was 0.0
Then their test is buggered
running that little car into the ground is infinitely more environmental than 'upgrading' to a new electric one
Carbon monoxide maybe
Quite
yeah thats not CO2
I agree
Side-effect of this ban will be to ramp up the price of non-electric cars in the used market
Though i doubt for a second the government will not just ramp the price of petrol and diesel up, even as it goes up naturally as the market shrinks
So we get fucked from every possible direction by these urban fucking parasites
I haven't felt this wound up since Blair fucked up the universities
every real world review ive seen of an EV has been negative
Oh, there are good EVs
when used in a long journey situation - problems with queues and faults and types, and the time it takes to charge with whatever you manage to find
Yeah, i'm not worried about that and most people wouldn't
It's the cost of the things that's the deal breaker
Putting aside all of the infrastructure and wherethefuckistheelectricgoingtocomefrom issues
