i spent all winter chopping logs with my grandad
they're banning the sale of coal, and banning the sale of unseasoned wood in quantities of under 2 cubic meters
although to be fair those logs will probably already be burned...
i used to split wood with an axe as a teenager and stack it int he woodshed in order to earn my meagre pocket oney
yeah, you don't want to be keeping firewood too many years - it degrades
Got some ash trees in my hedge that i'm eyeing up to try pollarding when i've got my woodshed built
my grandad splits more than I do... he's 86
i'll be getting a log splitter machine - can't do axes with a herniated back, sadly
still runs around after the sheep
to be fair, most of splitting is accuracy and technique - not strength
aside from the knotty bits
it's quite funny giving an axe to a novice and seeing them almost kill themselves
yeah its just like... this one has a knot, therefore skip π ... or get the sides

problem is we chop the wood at my dads farm, but he passed on christmas day 2018.. and he left every penny to his g/f .. and she just put the farm on the market
dunno what my grandads gonna do now... he went up there every single day.. not sure where he's gonna take his hens
