A gun in 5e vanilla is totally possible with enough funds I had a buddy do this you have to have a bunch of land with portals and a cannon in front of the portal with a shrinking effect make the exit portal the size of a ring and attach the ring to a rifle sized piece of wood, there were a lot more parts but essentially he’d signal home and a cannonball would come out the size of a bullet with the same damage it was great
