at least on Windows we can do this kind of thing fairly freely and without breaking the standard system. Homebrew and non-homebrew systems don't mix and homebrew changes all sorts of system environment settings which seems to break random things

I had to wipe a mac dev machine recently because uninstalling homebrew completely messed up the system

and at least the Windows UI is usable if you are competent. Using OS-X is like trying to get a girl off while wearing mittons and the ability to use your mouth is 3rd party and costs hundreds of dollars

every minute I spend using OS-X feels like a half an hour. It's made for simpletons who can't understand an interface that isn't less than 5 buttons. There are litearlly paid apps that do nothing other than make it easy to show hidden files, as this is apparently not a normal feature. If you are viewing hidden files on OS-X you are a "power user".

This is why modern day NASA engineers can't make a rocket that can go to the moon. They're too busy trying to pick their gender to focus on anything and they're too scared to think outside the box because they've been told something as simple as viewing hidden files is dangerous. Every Apple engineer should be crushed in a compactor and Tim Cook should be burned alive like the faggot he is for tainting technological society so badly. Seriously, fuck you Apple.

omfg yes fuck xcode. Want to use an outdated compiler that can't compile the latest code? Want a completely fucked version of make that isn't compatible with cmake/automake? Well just download 27GB of xcode garbage and fight with settings for the next 2 hours to get anything accessible outside of the GUI and you're set!

brew install llvm/clang/gcc pick your poison and use that

even ssh on the mac is horrible because you need to get a 3rd party terminal and mess with settings

or do you need to create a signed app or something

can't use brew if you're porting

you literally have to have a machine *without* brew to make proper native apps

im typically writing systems/research code as opposed to commercial products/apps so i never have these problems 😆

I have to do this kind of thing on the mac maybe once or twice a year max, so really I'm only using it for like 3 or 4 days out of the year total

there must be some way to package an app and sign it without using xcode directly
