but consider if someone who is pro-2A just said "yeah, sure, let's ban long rifles. happy now?"

and they'd have to admit they're not happy

because most of them *do* want to get rid of handguns and the like too

But you can't win popular opinion in that fashion

saying she's 'out of touch'

whilst simultaneously ignoring that background checks in many (all?) states check for things like a prior history of mental illness

But even then it's not cut-and-dry. Just like the argument for 'if you're on a no-fly list you shouldn't be able to buy a gun', you can't just blanket ban anyone who has X

There are plenty of people out there who have *some* form of mental illness - doesn't mean they're more prone to violence than anyone else or are likely to commit a fucking mass shooting. Is autism a mental illness? asperger's? What about... gender dismorphia?

Also, sitting politicians have been put on the no-fly list - if anything it's another fantastic example of how inept any government bureaucracy can be at handling this shit

The federal backround check is the same in all states

And i think due process rights trump issues like the no fly

If no fly was just a notifier to police that might be fine
