not really
aw
I have 4 distinct rifles (AR w/ .458 socom 16", AR w/ 223 wylde 18", Savage FVSR 22lr, and my sako TRG-42 in 338 lap)
and one pistol
The .458 was just a workaround; I didn't want to need to ditch my standard cap kits so I re-labeled them all to 458
Also; I did want to buy a 45/70, and this is just as good
I don't really have anything milsurp, although I might get ahold of a M1A in 308 so I can go 2 gun
I didn't want to go and get some rifle that would get me halfway to 2000Y
so I wasn't really attracted to 6.5CM
Would a clockwork or otherwise heavily built trigger mechanism fix the bullpup trigger issue?
So that there's no metal flex involved or shenanigans from shitty trigger linkages
yeah
there are a handful of good designs
some of them rely on sear based pin drops
i.e. the trigger group is still in the handguard, but the pin assy is linked with a long L bracket that catches on the sear
The only thing that has bothered me about bullpups is a assessablity of the magazine. If there was a way to do a mag change while keeping the barrel pointed at what i was engaging it would be more appealing.
It might just be something to practice but i dont think i have every seen some able to do this
Maybe it is just because all i have every really trained with was an M4
@DanConway
I guess that's the problem.
If you find someone who only trained in bullpups, they might reach a similar conclusion
I feel the setbacks generally outweigh the advantages from a civilian perspective
in a bolt gun it's not too much of a pain
@DanConway Maybe top feeding LMGs can make a comback in bullpup form? No need for a decent trigger pull on those
doubtful
I think the AR style platform will see material changes for about the next 30-40 years until there's some breakthrough
from the GPMG perspective, it's gonna be all belts
from the SAW-style things; it'll probably just be standard rifle body + different barrel + larger mags
surefire's 60's are pretty nice
The Marines have gone back to sort of a WWII style LMG with the IAR.
Interesting that we and the russians (RPK) came to similar conclusions on firepower
I heard you talkin shit on creedmoor lol
Where?
Idk maybe I misread it haha
I dunno if I would call the IAR "ww2 style"
I think he means a mag fed support gun like the bar
I don't think they had anything that would fit into the role that was less than 10 lbs
yeah
Rather than belt
That's definitely what I'm talking about in reference to the SAW getting nuked for the most part
There just isn't enough of a need for shitloads of suppressive fire in modern combat
