There's a funny thing that usually happens when you get your first firearm.. you realize they aren't the magical evil instruments of death that you've told about you're whole life. Sometimes you even start caring about the laws and who to vote for.

@TwoHeavens just know that 8mm Mauser is very expensive ammo, you won't be shooting it often

maybe get an Israeli mauser, those are chambered in .308 so you can shoot it 3 times as much for the same price

8mm is only 15 a box. Not super expensive. But not 22lr cheap.
