AFAIK Girl Scouts remain their own thing

The two organizations didn't choose to merge, moms just wanted their girls in a Scout organization that did something other than sell cookies and run through tons of bureaucracy

So instead of coercing Girl Scouts to change, they coerced Boy Scouts.

in canada that happened a few years ago. Mostly it was because the scout groups were active compared to the guides. But it has hurt the guides badly financially.

@Fulcrum010 the problem it is necessary, with things like the internet and sports less and less people overall are involved in scouting. This decision is more to do with social legal pressure so they do not get sued and for $ by upping enrolment.
