Before all of this, he was an active member of the Socialist party as well

2018-04-14 20:28:26 UTC

TL;DR He got woke on communism, and started to tear into it

2018-04-14 20:28:36 UTC

So like Orwell

2018-04-14 20:28:49 UTC

Idk, I haven't looked up his personal life

2018-04-14 20:29:14 UTC

I wonder how much living with this "Rabid Feminist" shaped his views going into writing *The Moon is a Harsh Mistress*

2018-04-14 20:29:23 UTC

The relationships in that one are a bit more communal

2018-04-14 20:29:24 UTC

IIRC

2018-04-14 20:30:01 UTC

So now, I'm organizing his entire bibliography by date, and cross referencing his personal life along with social changes in the 60s and 70s

2018-04-14 20:31:12 UTC

You can even classify his works by 'diagnosis' 'perscription' and 'possible future outcomes'

The basic concept resonates with me because I do give at least one afternoon and normally an evening as well to unpaid community service per week

Service is Citizenship

2018-04-14 20:32:40 UTC

I've classified that one (starship) as a 'prescription'.

Take a look at "for us, the living". That's his first piece of writing

2018-04-14 20:33:29 UTC

Guy gets in a car accident, and wakes up 150 years in the future

2018-04-14 20:33:45 UTC

And it's not a pretty future at that.

but I'm curious to see what Sargon makes of it

2018-04-14 20:36:28 UTC

Oh, yeah. But that's just the one book. I'm looking at his collection as a collection of thoughts about the political climate of the Era it was written in

2018-04-14 20:36:51 UTC

So fascinating

2018-04-14 20:37:08 UTC

Now I'm reading up on his Wikipedia article

His second wife was a nudist, an alcoholic, and permitted an open relationship. I'm sort of amazed he managed to last 15 years at that

2018-04-14 20:37:24 UTC

That was HIS thing as well!

2018-04-14 20:37:59 UTC

He met her, as she was his friends GF, and then he slept with her that same night

2018-04-14 20:38:55 UTC

She had a Masters in Philosophy, and was in the Hollywood world

2018-04-14 20:40:01 UTC

Lol

2018-04-15 02:47:37 UTC

Went to the library, and I grabbed his first, and last books, plus an anthology of short stories.

He had an idea about the possibility of a European Union, and the eventual collapse of such, plus a theoretical concept called 'Non-intercourse' which is basically a reverse embargo by the US on the EU.

I should start a blog on this...

2018-04-15 02:50:39 UTC

His first book reads more like Atlas Shrugged, than any normal sci-fi novel. More focus on the ideas than the characters

2018-04-15 03:21:38 UTC

huh

2018-04-15 03:32:19 UTC

"For Us, The Living" is the title. It was his very first book, yet it was published post-humonously

2018-04-15 03:32:52 UTC

I had to put it down. Too much.

2018-04-15 03:34:08 UTC

You can tell, this man was on a warpath with his writing, having been medically discharged from the Navy, and feeling duty bound to continue fighting in some regard.

2018-04-15 09:26:50 UTC

My Friend's politics are interesting...

2018-04-15 09:42:29 UTC
