DAE get headaches when Trump denies saying a thing that he's on vidoe record saying

Does anyone have any particularly good source material on the Scandinaian Socialism debate? I'm finding a lot of people talking about it and making arguments but nothing which is as empirically based as I'd like it to be.

No source it's just they have much lower population and conditions regarding weather etc

Any thoughts on the HighToryGang ? πŸ˜‚

Social programs in Scandinavian countries are possible because they reap profits from capitalist investments.

2018-06-03 00:21:54 UTC

Norway puts all their oil money into an investment fund, that invests into foreign economies, and withdraws up to 4% per year, to cover the social program costs.

2018-06-03 00:26:06 UTC

Denmark exports food, so does Iceland.

2018-06-03 00:26:34 UTC

Sweden exports steel, paper.

2018-06-03 00:28:53 UTC

Finland is overrated.

2018-06-03 00:29:44 UTC

So yeah, no socialist utopia, they heavily rely on capitalism to stay wealthy.

2018-06-03 00:42:15 UTC

as far as i know, it's not even labeled as socialism

2018-06-03 00:47:37 UTC

Too many double negatives, let me get this straight. Abortion in Ireland was illegal, there was a vote to overturn it, but now that vote to overturn is being overturned?

2018-06-03 00:49:20 UTC

Pretty normal if you ask me

2018-06-03 00:49:30 UTC

Yes, it was illegal, couple of years ago there was a vote, they said no

2018-06-03 00:49:47 UTC

Now there's a vote and they said yes

2018-06-03 02:17:25 UTC

Queues and wait times, I've heard, are another way these "scandinavian model" countries can cope with these healthcare programs.

2018-06-03 02:17:38 UTC

Thinning out expenditures, essentially.

2018-06-03 02:37:13 UTC

Thoughts on corporal punishment @everyone?

It boils down to. If you cane any of my God kids. I'll Cane you.

It doesn't work

2018-06-03 03:01:28 UTC

I'm fine with it as long as it's only the parents that do it when their kid's being a disrespectful little shit

I'd advice dilomacy cus kids have long memories but also if you are losing control in the supermarket. Back to the drawing board

2018-06-03 03:25:32 UTC

Has Peterson ever talked about corporal punishment?

2018-06-03 03:33:52 UTC

Off the top of my head, "Minimum Necessary Amount of Force" runs through many of his sidestories in 12 Rules

2018-06-03 06:47:44 UTC

Yeah you don't get to claim moral superiority while hitting a kid

2018-06-03 06:47:56 UTC

And you really can't teach someone morals without that

2018-06-03 06:54:26 UTC

Yes you can

2018-06-03 06:54:43 UTC

Hitting a kid is not the end of the world

2018-06-03 07:58:48 UTC

2018-06-03 08:02:39 UTC

No, it still makes you the bad guy

2018-06-03 08:04:41 UTC

Hitting them doesn't teach them they did something wrong, just that they did something that made you angry

2018-06-03 08:05:15 UTC

Not very efficient in my opinion

2018-06-03 08:09:32 UTC

2018-06-03 08:09:46 UTC

You don't teach right and wrong, you condition

2018-06-03 08:10:08 UTC

It's nothing more than what you do to make a dog roll over on command

2018-06-03 08:10:17 UTC

No actual understanding of what's happening
