I have not looked at the other three though
Cool I wasnt sure on that one it could have been any other
The story closer resembles the hindu and egyptian tales
What is your point?
BEcause they are similar?
what
My point is. You can deny it but many traditions of catholicism and christianity as a whole were taken and adjusted from paganism, along with deciding what *miricles* and scripture would be included or not from the bible.
The only point was that marrige as a Catholic tradition Was only done in mutual consent
As Christianity was expanded and *translations* were done with neat additions and subtractions based on the area, this continued
the only good catholics are the non-white catholics
do you have any evidence they stole this from pegan culture?
yeah
Your point was it was *the first*
Handfasting
No
Of northern pagans
@DanConway
christmas
It was consentual
i guess easter was something else too
Truly consentual
Not the wanna be *arranged marriage but woman wond defy the family*
Handfasting was the first true consent of the bride
Christianity adopted that
If the marriage was not consensual it could be annulled
But that is where the west gained this tradition
There wasnt a non consentual marriage in handfasting.
And either side could call it off.
Who handfasted?
Picts, Norse, I believe as well the Gauls and Germanics
The germanics no
The church had a huge problem trying to convince them of how marriage worked
Handfasting worked different than marriage
One major was either member could *divorce*
As with the moors
This would have inferiated the catholics
Yes they disagree with divorce
but the marrige tradition as we know it was solidified by the church
But that doesnt denote the fact handfasting was the first form of consentual marriage. And again. Real consent. No arranged, and in many cases no *dowery*
And the tradition is from the church
that was the first point brought forward
