Not really, US is waning empire. I think EU is trying to make United States of Europe.

I do not want that, but it is an strong thing which can happen. What small nations WANT matters less than nothing really. If Germany and France will push for slow gradual integration it is something which is really hard to stop, and doing so might leave those said nations to the spheres of influence of less good actors.
I am not sure if you are being wilfully ignorant that you cannot get all you want and that not all nations are protected by ridiculous amounts of weapons and nukes?
