Can you explain? What will they fuck around with?
the structures that would be in place
i guess i should go back to what i was saying
yeah, sorry
the point i was trying to make, is that you cant create prosperity without also creating complacency
so that eventually, if society keeps improving, there would be some sort of imperative to keep the youth in check, and to teach them the value of what they have.
without that mechanism in place, they will end up,through ignorance, destroying the system.
so what i was talking about earlier was a need for some sort of program to combat that
Yes, I agree.
Thing is, you can't 'fix' everyone
right
but we need the majority
I'm not sure being egalitarian in that sense is even preferable
can you explain that more?
Like, *attempting* to get as many people into that position as possible.
The thing about hardship and its relation to responsibility, is that it has to be completely voluntary for it to even work.
People need to *want* to become a better person
um..maybe
And I think that for a majority of humans, that will never be the case
The old "sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs" thing
which is why i was talking about this in the context of fascism
it almost needs to be forced
true, but it doesn't sound very fascist lol
Authoritarian, yes
okay, sure
Which is why i brought up stratocracy unironically, because this is the exact phenomenon that Heinlein was talking about in the pre-history of Starship Troopers
Prosperity leads to decadence, which leads to a slow collapse of responsiblity
Yet, responsibility can't be forced
exactly
So even if we could have a societal mechanism which indoctrinated everyone into having the toolkit necessary to take on responsibility, very few still would, and now you'd have a bunch of angry young adults on your hands because you forced them through this
well, you would need to be able to back it up
and do it at an early age
with love
you want them to feel a part of it
not alienate them
i dont see it as a punishment
and if done right they wouldn't either
i mean, is there a way to raise kids without making them resent you?
i think so
Yeah, but that's 150mil different sets of parents
You know parents tried that. It was "Be your kids friend." And "4 to 8 year olds have high rationality process." Ideologies
What did that get us. The sjw/socialists
I think he meant, that you can raise your child in a harsh environment that builds character, while simultaneously being a good parent
Ah
