iirc article 232 or something

2018-12-08 08:21:36 UTC

No cause nafta is superceeded by this

2018-12-08 08:21:50 UTC

The same article exists in here

2018-12-08 08:22:26 UTC

The thing is. Saying "it stands regardless is a mosnomer if it hasnt even been ratified in the us yet

2018-12-08 08:22:36 UTC

Cause this isnt even official yet here

2018-12-08 08:22:44 UTC

i understand

2018-12-08 08:22:53 UTC

but we have zero guarantee that Trump will remove the tariff

2018-12-08 08:22:58 UTC

since it wasnt even mentioned

2018-12-08 08:23:07 UTC

You can complain if it is still there after congress ratifies

2018-12-08 08:23:21 UTC

I will ceed it then.

2018-12-08 08:23:30 UTC

i can complain about how no action was taken to remove it

2018-12-08 08:24:00 UTC

Tbh its probably trump holding it to ensure t dog doesnt back out

2018-12-08 08:24:13 UTC

Similar to any against mexico

2018-12-08 08:24:29 UTC

Especially with mexico having a new pres

2018-12-08 08:24:57 UTC

you can amend article 232 in USMCA so it automatically eliminates the tariff once all sides ratifies the agreement

2018-12-08 08:25:48 UTC

I'm reading various articles on the USMCA deal, and I don't see anyone claimung that the deal has "fucked over" Canada or Mexico. In fact they mostly state how it improves worker conditions and inter north american trade

2018-12-08 08:26:12 UTC

I dont read articles cause spin

2018-12-08 08:26:17 UTC

Read the deal itself

2018-12-08 08:26:22 UTC

I am as well

2018-12-08 08:26:46 UTC

I wanted to read some opinions on it

2018-12-08 08:26:54 UTC

raising the percent of $16 earners in auto manufacturing will undoubtedly fuck over mexico

2018-12-08 08:27:07 UTC

significantly too

2018-12-08 08:27:18 UTC

Yea i really dont see any big fuck yous. And the ones mentioned are conjecture, as it isnt even ratified in the us yet.

2018-12-08 08:27:20 UTC

And it wont improve worker conditions and stop immigration?

2018-12-08 08:28:03 UTC

it will shrink their workforce

2018-12-08 08:28:08 UTC

Raising income for workers and giving them larger union protection is what most workers.would want

2018-12-08 08:28:16 UTC

those who keeps their jobs will be improved sure

2018-12-08 08:28:49 UTC

The workforce wont shrink... perhaps you mean employed workers

2018-12-08 08:29:17 UTC

i ofc am not referring to the entirety of mexican workforce

2018-12-08 08:29:33 UTC

it will shift auto manfucaturing away from mexico

2018-12-08 08:30:50 UTC

It depends, It's more benefitial for Mexico to increase the auto industry since a car 75% produced in Mexico will be freed of tariffs

2018-12-08 08:31:11 UTC

its not up to mexico to increase the auto industry

2018-12-08 08:31:18 UTC

its up to the auto industry to increase in mexico

2018-12-08 08:31:29 UTC

with less incentive in the forms of lower wages

2018-12-08 08:31:39 UTC

they will shift towards Canada or US

2018-12-08 08:31:52 UTC

The Mexican state can subsidise and incentivise industrial growth in many ways

2018-12-08 08:32:31 UTC

subsidies are an issue to this and previous agreement

2018-12-08 08:32:39 UTC

and it will cost mexico regardless

2018-12-08 09:56:20 UTC

<:sargoy:382978736053551104>

2018-12-08 09:56:47 UTC

there is a massive industrial opportunity in mexico
