@Omsomething Older professionals are the kind of people who propagate ideas like this in the first place. It's purely academic sophistry taken from the classroom and applied onto society as if the concepts were proven already.

2018-10-03 15:49:02 UTC

Leftists have to be removed from their positions in academia so they cannot spread this cancer any more.

2018-10-03 15:50:30 UTC

No no personally i think most of the older professionals are VERY collected and can see things from varying points of view. They just are jaded about how society and politics are changed.

Direct actions, causing a fuzz and youth doing thing X are the things which get past the media tresholds.

2018-10-03 15:51:04 UTC

It is less about the players and more about the game.

2018-10-03 15:51:36 UTC

I just wanted you to be notified @franti

2018-10-03 15:51:48 UTC

I’ll document everything he says to me to you

2018-10-03 15:52:03 UTC

Why do you think he cares?

2018-10-03 15:52:14 UTC

That’s what friends are for

2018-10-03 15:53:08 UTC

@Deleted User why do you even argue with fitzy?

2018-10-03 15:53:17 UTC

oh my god watching change my mind is usually painful

2018-10-03 15:53:31 UTC

but I think that it's kind of important to watch long form discussions

2018-10-03 15:53:40 UTC

@Omsomething Yes, the insane public stunts we see are mostly composed of younger people, but these people are students of the older professionals you are talking about. Anyone can convince impressionable youth of the righteousness of their cause, but most are not this destructive and willing to use others as weapons to carry out their ideas of societal change.

2018-10-03 15:53:45 UTC

he is a lolbeterian

2018-10-03 15:55:28 UTC

2018-10-03 15:56:51 UTC

"A devil's triangle refers to rape" what, it's just a MFM, rape implies rape, a sexual position never implies rape on its own

2018-10-03 15:56:53 UTC

wtf

2018-10-03 15:56:59 UTC

damn these people

2018-10-03 15:57:38 UTC

Societies change, it might be guided a bit to some directions. Problem i think is that a lot of times diffences of opinion are stated to be due to ignorance and hate. Problem is a some of it truly IS, i have met some people who are truly racists who have NO idea how evolution even works.

2018-10-03 15:57:44 UTC

@Omsomething Ok, but losing your shit in public and being generally antisocial/confrontational is not the way towards societal change that lasts any length of time. You might be able to bully or cow people into acting or speaking a certain way as long as you have the power to do so, but the second you don't have that power all of the repressed emotions and behaviors will come back at once. Plus it makes people mad and defensive to call them bigots or racists and does nothing to convince them of the inherent illogical nature of their positions.

2018-10-03 16:01:27 UTC

I guess my issue is more with the methods than the goals. Making every societal issue into a public confrontation at all times does nothing to create willingness to compromise on deeply held principles or work together to find mutually beneficial solutions to problems. It just makes more fighting about the existing issues

2018-10-03 16:02:22 UTC

But muh revolution

2018-10-03 16:03:11 UTC

I am not sure about that, people can be made compliant with pressures like that. If people are made afraid to speak against things they slowly see others speak of it in good terms and they slowly perpetuate it again and again and they slowly come to accept it as a fact.

The same thing i assume worked in middle ages to keep everyone in check in the Catholic doctrine. Untill Protestants called them out for their bullshit, and that was dangerous thing to do and caused a massive stir.

2018-10-03 16:03:51 UTC

Compromising is not something extremists do, and it is not their work either, they push and push so the "moderates" can be reasonable and push the reforms in the "center".

2018-10-03 16:04:01 UTC

Fear as a method of societal control works, sure. But only so long

2018-10-03 16:04:49 UTC

If i would say i want to ban everyone on this chat, and it was getting traction most people might agree that only banning @banestrum is moderate position.

2018-10-03 16:05:02 UTC

That's a fallacious position

2018-10-03 16:05:16 UTC

Ahh, but a reactionary position would be to do the opposite

2018-10-03 16:05:28 UTC

And actually unban people

2018-10-03 16:05:29 UTC

It's not a position anyone would or should take because it makes no sense.

2018-10-03 16:06:10 UTC

Personally, i am not sure a lot of extremists on any discussion truly aim to make sense.

2018-10-03 16:06:27 UTC

Precisely, they aim to win.

2018-10-03 16:06:36 UTC

"I can jog anywhere I want at night and feel safe"

criminals don't care about how you *feel*, broski

2018-10-03 16:06:39 UTC

It's instictual mob tactics

2018-10-03 16:06:50 UTC

They want everyone to agree with them, regardless of if that means silencing disagreement or killing those who disagree

2018-10-03 16:07:23 UTC

People like that must be removed from positions of power if society is to have any hope of functioning properly

2018-10-03 16:08:02 UTC

I'd advocate removing them from society or existence entirely, but I wouldn't force people to accept that position.

2018-10-03 16:09:23 UTC

It seems like extreme leftism and Antifa methodology are an emergent phenomenon from groups with a majority of emotion-heavy reasoning

2018-10-03 16:09:49 UTC

emotion vs rationality
