a series of well structured arguments that are logically consistent

2018-11-01 04:03:32 UTC

It's from a catholic so it can't be all the sincere

2018-11-01 04:03:33 UTC

> proof

2018-11-01 04:03:49 UTC

Ok

2018-11-01 04:04:12 UTC

Do you know AristotleΒ΄s argument for a first mover?

2018-11-01 04:04:18 UTC

yes πŸ˜‚

2018-11-01 04:04:27 UTC

ok that is our starting point

2018-11-01 04:04:38 UTC

lemme stop you right there

2018-11-01 04:04:45 UTC

Let him finish

2018-11-01 04:04:55 UTC

I started my own server, does anyone wanna join?

2018-11-01 04:04:56 UTC

I have a beef with first mover

2018-11-01 04:05:00 UTC

ok

2018-11-01 04:05:14 UTC

If nothing can move on its own, something must move first right?

2018-11-01 04:06:02 UTC

Chqnge my mind: the R9 fury is better than the GTX 1080

2018-11-01 04:06:10 UTC

that is not the argument it is a question of: can there be an infinite regress?

2018-11-01 04:06:25 UTC

I got mine for $200 new

2018-11-01 04:06:35 UTC

Before the coinfags bought them all

2018-11-01 04:06:47 UTC

so youre using first mover as a starting point
but you cant affirm when i restate it to you?

2018-11-01 04:07:05 UTC

what is more likely in your opinion?

2018-11-01 04:07:23 UTC

As infinite regress, or a first mover?

2018-11-01 04:08:10 UTC

If nothing can move on its own, something must move first.
Things are moving.
Too bad gravity from one stationary object can move another stationary object.

2018-11-01 04:08:24 UTC

but ill hear you out

2018-11-01 04:08:44 UTC

but this is the crux

2018-11-01 04:09:07 UTC

do continue im intrigued

2018-11-01 04:09:38 UTC

He's talking before gravity existed, something caused it to come into existence

2018-11-01 04:09:47 UTC

or, reality in general

2018-11-01 04:10:16 UTC

except gravity is just the bending of spacetime.

2018-11-01 04:10:26 UTC

so nothing cause it to come into existence

2018-11-01 04:10:59 UTC

Gravity is a feature of reality itself, and nothing exists without reality, so we're on to first cause, which is my favorite.

2018-11-01 04:12:11 UTC

Back

2018-11-01 04:13:03 UTC

Let me guess
> Something can't come from nothing
> Things are here
> Something must have come first
> Whatever came first must be special so it is a god who cares about our foreskins

2018-11-01 04:13:20 UTC

Well the crux of the point was that logic

2018-11-01 04:13:26 UTC

a sequence of reasoning or justification that can never come to an end.

2018-11-01 04:13:31 UTC

is illogical

2018-11-01 04:13:56 UTC

hence an infinite regress does not fall in line with logic?

2018-11-01 04:14:04 UTC

@🌻 togepi 🌻 take his foreskin

2018-11-01 04:14:10 UTC

<:pepe_why:378719408367075333>

2018-11-01 04:14:14 UTC

My version
> Something can't come from nothing
> Things are here
> It seems like something came from nothing at some point
> I think its hydrogen

2018-11-01 04:14:24 UTC

ok good

2018-11-01 04:15:01 UTC

so is that because you find an infinite regress to be objectively illogical

2018-11-01 04:16:27 UTC

Not necessarily, because reality is infinite as far as we know, which makes it plausible that reality has always been a thing
