Frankly it boils down to the fact that a lot of right wingers these days aren't arguing the same way as leftists are. The_Donald isn't getting into political discussions to convince anyone, or defend their viewpoints, or learn something new, they're doing it to win. They don't care that their viewpoints get proven objectively false over and over again, they only care that they win the argument and the only way they can do that is to argue in bad faith, intentionally misrepresent the truth, and insult the credibility and character of the other person. It's not a exchange of ideas to them, it's a game where one person wins and one person loses.
