im watching the one about starship troopers atm, and just got to where he says the federation doesnt use deceptive propaganda. when i think back on the film, other than thinking its a great movie, i felt that its "possible" something was off about it. And thought that the bug war might have been a front, so where sargon says that the federation was being open about the destruction of Buenos Aires, the first thing that came to mind was "that could have been staged so the federation could justify a war with the bugs". I don't know for sure either way, but was that a consideration?
I bet they made the bugs in a lab and put them on a far away planet to really sell the story π€
the film is filled with propaganda
the book not so much
@orolyn Maybe, but you're analyzing a half assed movie based on a book
he only used parts of the film for reference when it matched the book
or he explained the minor differences
@Fitzydog probably ye, it did surprize me that the director intended to make it depict facism lol
but failed
Yeah, well the director is a soci boi
Because the movie originated from an unrelated script, with names and superficial details from the novel being added retroactively, there are many significant differences between the original book and the film.[7] While the original novel has been accused of promoting militarism, fascism, and military rule,[8][9] the film satirizes these concepts by featuring bombastic displays of nationalism as well as news reports that are intensely fascist, xenophobic, and propagandistic.[7]
*Because the movie originated from an unrelated script*
mm, i wish i'd read the book, i can see how the film doesnt go into great detail
A lot of Heinleins books are like this btw
