2019-12-05 09:50:05 UTC

They once occupied a good deal of Ukraine

2019-12-05 09:50:21 UTC

Than lost it to Russkies

2019-12-05 09:51:06 UTC

Again, for long there was no real difference. Remember the area is important of Russian culture overall as Kiev Rus is a kind of the cradle.

I can buy a 1993 Dodge Viper for 33k.

But there had been divergent events and cultural differences. One main one is religion. West Ukraine is dominantly Catholic.

2019-12-05 09:52:00 UTC

I have nothing to loose but can i even start investing if I'm under 18?

2019-12-05 09:52:12 UTC

East Ukraine (the more Russian supporters) are Orthodox.

2019-12-05 09:52:52 UTC

So what do you think of the Russian separatists?

2019-12-05 09:52:59 UTC

Poles lost their empire so quick

Some would argue that it's like Chinese-Australians declaring part or Australia to be China and wanting to secede.

2019-12-05 09:53:47 UTC

They can be Russian but can they really take part of Ukraine with them?

2019-12-05 09:53:53 UTC

Can't they just move to Russia?

2019-12-05 09:53:54 UTC

@Weaboo Kempeitai Heavy questions. The main problem is a break of International law (The Budapest treaty) and the geopolitical destabilisation of the area.

2019-12-05 09:54:09 UTC

wat

2019-12-05 09:54:14 UTC

I think International Law is a spook tbh

2019-12-05 09:54:17 UTC

jews and judqism?

2019-12-05 09:54:29 UTC

Is Ukraine's claim on Crimea stronger than Russias?

2019-12-05 09:54:42 UTC

no

2019-12-05 09:54:43 UTC

No

2019-12-05 09:54:44 UTC

Both US and Russia promised a territorial sovereignty to Ukraine in exchange of them giving up their nukes.

2019-12-05 09:55:12 UTC

US promised it wouldnt swallow ex eastern bloc into NATO

2019-12-05 09:55:46 UTC

@Muad'Dib It is not even that the main question. How worthy was for Russian for that move and loose support in other close by countries? You see a rise of anti-Russian sentiments in many close by countries (Poland, Hungary, etc).

2019-12-05 09:56:03 UTC

@Chawosaurian Sure. But the question here not even that.

2019-12-05 09:56:24 UTC

It is a diplomatic credibility and how much an ally Russia can be in long term.

2019-12-05 09:56:32 UTC

I think it's like what happened with the Anschluss, if people all speak the language and want to secede, much like Quebec, much like the Confederacy, much like Scotland, the people should have the right to determine their own destiny, imho

2019-12-05 09:56:35 UTC

Some would argue that the Ukrainians exasperated the situation by not making Russian an official state language, and by essentially ostracising Russian speaking Ukrainians.

2019-12-05 09:57:00 UTC

Crimea was an extremely important strategic area also

2019-12-05 09:57:04 UTC

So if Russia would supported a new regime or rebellion siding by them (secretly) that is a different message than breaking their own word.

2019-12-05 09:57:16 UTC

@Muad'Dib Absolutely.

2019-12-05 09:57:41 UTC

But probably Russia did the age old American way of waging a war when internal politics is getting rough.

2019-12-05 09:57:41 UTC

Why should Russia care about ex puppet states that joined the ZOGmerican Protectorate

2019-12-05 09:57:42 UTC

NATO fosters anti-Russian sentiment on Russia's borders too

2019-12-05 09:57:47 UTC

Baltic beefs are so complicated.
