Only reason we had brexit vote was Cameron went to the EU for an update on our position (came back with fuck all) - that split the conservatives so to decide it was put to a vote or farage might have won if nothing was done

2019-12-05 10:33:54 UTC

Sure, one reason he did teh referendum is to stop the loss of voters to teh UKIP.

2019-12-05 10:33:55 UTC

@KarasuKafka I agree about England’s position - we should have regional assemblies too

2019-12-05 10:34:10 UTC

Also probably more than one regional assembly.

2019-12-05 10:34:24 UTC

Aye norf and south

2019-12-05 10:34:26 UTC

London has too much power due it's economical strength.

2019-12-05 10:35:02 UTC

New York is the same

2019-12-05 10:35:12 UTC

Probably some division of South East and West too.

2019-12-05 10:36:02 UTC

London is a very dark place

2019-12-05 10:36:04 UTC

Aye Lancashire and Yorkshire are two different worlds (it’s said those who have kids across county lines have sterile mule children)

2019-12-05 10:36:16 UTC

Cornwall would suffer if whole South under one umbrella.

2019-12-05 10:36:45 UTC

Cornwall are celts genetically

2019-12-05 10:37:19 UTC

@Muad'Dib So I am not talking here about immigration, but I just heard it recently, need to read of the details. But there is a relic of London's council (local) election system I believe.

2019-12-05 10:37:38 UTC

And that is companies and businesses has voting rights of seats of the city council too.

2019-12-05 10:37:49 UTC

A heritage of the medieval guilt system.

2019-12-05 10:38:03 UTC

Not sure the proportion.

2019-12-05 10:38:11 UTC

Oh yes there is a lot of very sketchy financial history to London

2019-12-05 10:38:17 UTC

Or what qualifies as a body to vote.

2019-12-05 10:38:30 UTC

London has been a free city since William the conquer needed their consent to rule - everything beyond was filed out to his buddies

2019-12-05 10:38:31 UTC

It is a medieval age heritage.

2019-12-05 10:38:48 UTC

Yep as rick said.

2019-12-05 10:39:09 UTC

So that definietly contributes of London's political landscape.

2019-12-05 10:39:27 UTC

Not sure how much, agan, I will have to read the details.

2019-12-05 10:39:31 UTC

I just get the impression that there is a power behind the throne so to speak\

2019-12-05 10:40:04 UTC

They have hold overs (like the Lord Mayor not the mayor of London)

2019-12-05 10:40:38 UTC

2 Separate offices and guys

2019-12-05 10:41:46 UTC

@Rick Turpin I see.Now would be interesting to see the duties and executive powers between these different bodies.

2019-12-05 10:42:59 UTC

The normans also kept out shire system and sheriffs (most are now ceremonial in nature not the USA sheriffs who do hands on stuff)

2019-12-05 10:44:03 UTC

I wonder if they're also masons

2019-12-05 10:44:13 UTC

More than likely

2019-12-05 10:44:40 UTC

most police departments in the USA seem to have a lodge affiliation

2019-12-05 10:44:44 UTC

from what i've heard

2019-12-05 10:46:18 UTC

The sheriff should be the “cleanest whistle” as they are an ancient local custom (that became a major staple of USA law enforcement) unlike other offices this was locally appointed

2019-12-05 10:48:44 UTC

take that drumpf

2019-12-05 10:49:27 UTC

@Muad'Dib the Lord Mayor of London, who only has jurisdiction over the City of London, as opposed to the modern title of Mayor of London governing Greater London.

2019-12-05 10:50:02 UTC

no look here

2019-12-05 10:50:10 UTC

when a white nat carries out a shooting, they're a lone wolf

2019-12-05 10:50:11 UTC

Wow that definitely happens
