"The island of Elysium also known as the ends of the world was discovered a near 200 years ago by sailors lost at sea. Previously thought too dangerous to settle by any reasonable person it was settled by all manner of miscreants and pirates who sought refuge from the laws of man.
Rumours of a powerful mysterious substance called 'shards' hidden underground the island started surfacing among seafaring folk. This threw the natives of the old world into somewhat of a gold rush, hoping to be the first to conquer the islands and it's precious resources.
In the last few years an ambitious group of humans managed to establish it's first official port and city shortly followed by half orcs, dwarves, gnomes and all manner of folk. All of which are competing against each other for territory and mining rights.
