Or go even earlier: Assyrian Church of the East.

Aren’t they literal Nestorians?

2018-12-30 23:15:35 UTC

Yup, although they reject the label

2018-12-30 23:15:36 UTC

Those are just heretics IMO

2018-12-30 23:16:01 UTC

Some of the branch have reached sanity and joined the RCC

2018-12-30 23:17:38 UTC

But the Assyrian Church of the East still has an anaphora in use attributed to Nestorius (as far as i know).

That’s incredible

Guys we aren’t Nestorians we just use this thing he wrote in our liturgy

They may be schismatic but they have a very hard time in the Mohammedan Middle East.

2018-12-30 23:19:38 UTC

They still retained the sacraments, something we can't say about our Protestant "brothers" which JPII was so find of.

Sure, but when your Christology gets damaged, there comes a point where you are worshipping a different Christ

2018-12-30 23:21:53 UTC

Also because of the aniconic idea of Muhammedanism and their intermingling for centuries, they don't have many or any icons at all.

Your point being?

2018-12-30 23:23:39 UTC

They have been under the Mohammedan heel for too long and you forget parts of your tradition piece by piece.

Right

But were you making a larger point?

2018-12-30 23:26:16 UTC

Not really. Just chipped in the thing about the AACE because someone had isssues with both the RCC and EO

Gotcja

Fuk my keyboard turned Polzchizchzs on me

Found this btw about the non usage of Icons:
"In the sixth century, more than one catholicos of the Church of the East attempted without success to reach theological agreement and restore communion with the Church in the Roman Empire. Its principal divergence from that church was its rejection of the title of “Mother of God” for the Virgin Mary, although it has always acclaimed her as the “Mother of Our Lord, God, and Savior Jesus Christ.” (Its other noteworthy point of difference, its rejection of all pictorial iconography—a feature that attracted much interest from Protestants in the nineteenth century—Baumer shows to be an innovation of the late fourteenth century and a response to increased Muslim persecution."

Forgot about the Christotokos vs Theotokos issue

Huh

That’s funny

Most modern problems inside the Church and with the personal and internal faith people have can be explained through a close examination of the heresies in earlier times. Even 'secular' people in my country (with a capital famous for it's weed and prostution) fall for a lot of the early heresies unintentially.

What’s ur country fam

2018-12-30 23:58:40 UTC

What country is famous for it's prostitution, weed and annual pride parade? (tip: it's Western European)

2018-12-31 00:00:42 UTC

It's the Netherlands. I actually am from Amsterdam originally. Luckily my parents were so smart to leave when i was young.

Ah

I was struggling to think of a secularized country where Christianity is still a familiar enough idea for people to stumble into Christian heresies

2018-12-31 01:01:04 UTC

@Wzl do you guys believe the Church of the East has Apostolic succession? I'm pretty sure succession of heretics is invalid

2018-12-31 01:06:59 UTC

@Mozalbete ⳩ I feel like you're still just playing me here

2018-12-31 01:14:31 UTC

Strangely enough, the country I'm from is pretty homophobic but a lot of the guys act like queers

2018-12-31 01:16:03 UTC

@󠀂 󠀂 u Russian?

2018-12-31 01:16:34 UTC

Effeminate is bad too

2018-12-31 01:41:29 UTC

@Deleted User no, Korean

2018-12-31 01:43:13 UTC

@󠀂 󠀂 it pisses me off because historically there were Korean states known for being expansionist, imperialistic military powers. And even during the Cold War Korean troops had a good reputation for killing commies. Compare that to now, with fucking flowerboys and thots being the main source of fame for Korea.

2018-12-31 01:43:32 UTC

lol

2018-12-31 02:37:35 UTC

South Korea is honestly worst Korea

2018-12-31 02:37:51 UTC
2018-12-31 02:38:28 UTC

I mean, North Korea is a Juche hellhole, but at least the population isn't that way by choice, unlike the faggy boys in S. Korea.
