Love is not the only acceptable reason for an action though, there is also safety, and making the world a better place for Christianity.
even safety is traced back to love though. We love our own lives, or the lives of those close to us.
Then why would people fight for the safety and betterment of the lives of people that they don't even know?
Because they love their country, they love the idea of love and goodness
all the good circles back to love, because that is God's defining feature
Mercy is a really hard thing to exercise these days, specially with so many enemies
I understand things are really dark, but that's not an excuse to just become totally cynical and hateful

but people can change their behaviors
