You could say that /rel/ was *aborted*
I left /rel/ a long time ago. Was only invited back recently by a friend of mine.
I left the original rel because of the out of control autism tbh
Though I did meet a lot of good people.
IMO, we should resolve right now to be patient and open to those we disagree with, and to honestly assess issues, and not project a "bundled" narrative onto everything
I feel all the traditionalist groups fail because people aren't patient with each other anymore
People seem to have lost the art of disagreement
you either agree with someone, or totally hate them it seems now
not that sometimes kicking people in the rear isn't needed, such as with blatant blasphemy...
One thing I learned going to Russia recently
was that discernment is something almost totally lacking today
while there are certain solid principles given to us by the church and scripture that are eternal
many things are given to us by God
which is why I neither, for example support a "free speech" policy, but am also disturbed by the tight necked atmosphere of many groups
we must at every step, pray for guidance and discernment from God, of the best path
since what we need is usually an answer that goes against our desire to bundle different beliefs together, or to protect our pride
somewhere along the way we tried to write down all the rules for every situation imaginable, when instead we should have been praying to God for his guidance in each situation
thats my take on it
modern man is the man of extremes
of lust, or of total deprivation. Of apathy, or of anger.
A country of dude bros and drug addicts and rednecks with tattoos and children by 3 wives
but also a good incubator to those whose faith is mechanical, to those who are angry, to those who have given up on trying to give anything to the world
in my opinon, love is often an act of patience, even if the other person does not initially understand it
while lots of people really are crazy and deranged these days
we must sometimes learn to swallow the bullet, and try to see past the grime of this day and age
and to be patient with people, like we should be patient with our friends, or our spouses, and so on
but when to fight, and when to be patient? For surely we cannot be in a constant state of either
for only weak willed liberals are forever patient, and only men on the edge are forever angry?
well, that is where I'd say we should ask God to guide us in our decisions
since people and situations are different, and will require different tools
@Daniil I find your comment about the trads curious, part of the reaosn I didn't really know what to put down for "political affiliation" in vetting
I dont really know how I'd describe myself
I guess Monarchist, because the Christian tradition, and even some councils have said Monarchy is the best, and as far as I can tell, most governments in history have been monarchies
I mean, even in a democracy, you have neoptism and transmission of power. Think of the Clintons and Kennedy's
or the influence of a uh..... certain group, and we'll just call them the "Canadians" on American politics and society
I find people tend to "bundle" beliefs, and ignore a lot of fine details that explain important aspects of history
also, the answer to feminism isn't white trash tier big tits sexuality
better
old paintings of beautiful women is the answer to feminism ๐
Probabbly not ๐ฆ
Life is probabbly going to get really hard. I imagine the world will get much much worse before it gets better
then again, I really should stop worrying abotu these things, and leave it to God
I read the answer to anxiety is to remember God is with us, has plans, He reigns supreme, and will provide for us, even if providing for us means we eventually meet our demise, to fulfill our role in life
quite frankly, I really should just stop paying attention to the rest of the world, or the future for that matter (outside of planning about how to get back to engineering school)
We aint see nothing yet
wiat for the healthcare system to collapse, mass unemployment, rampant crime, and political violence
as well as active persecution of people like us
We're just getting started
I want to serve God
everything else doesnt really matter, though if I have a say in it, I'd like to go back to school and become an engineer
that'd be nice I think
I was thinking more Russia in the 1990s
when the birth rate plumetted
and everything else just imploded
and the economy collapse in a depression worse than the Great Depression of the 1930s
Yup
Glory to God in all things
"In early 1992, prices skyrocketed throughout Russia, and a deep credit crunch shut down many industries and brought about a protracted depression. The reforms devastated the living standards of much of the population, especially the groups dependent on Soviet-era state subsidies and welfare entitlement programs.[33] Through the 1990s, Russia's GDP fell by 50 percent, vast sectors of the economy were wiped out, inequality and unemployment grew dramatically, while incomes fell. Hyperinflation, caused by the Central Bank of Russia's loose monetary policy, wiped out many people's personal savings, and tens of millions of Russians were plunged into poverty"
"Following the economic collapse of the early 1990s, Russia suffered from a sharp increase in the rates of poverty and economic inequality.[9] Estimates by the World Bank based on both macroeconomic data and surveys of household incomes and expenditures indicate that whereas 1.5% of the population was living in poverty (defined as income below the equivalent of $25 per month) in the late Soviet era, by mid-1993 between 39% and 49% of the population was living in poverty.[10] Per capita incomes fell by another 15% by 1998, according to government figures.
Public health indicators show a dramatic corresponding decline. Although all post-Soviet countries experience an immediate decline in birth-rates due to economic turmoil this may have been particularly acute in Russia.[11] In 1999, total population fell by about three-quarters of a million people. Meanwhile, life expectancy dropped for men from 64 years in 1990 to 57 years by 1994, while women's dropped from 74 to about 71. Both health factors and a sharp increase in deaths of the youth demographic from unnatural causes (such as murders, suicides, and accidents) have significantly contributed to this trend. Closely related to the declining life expectancy, alcohol-related deaths skyrocketed 60% in the 1990s and deaths from infectious and parasitic diseases shot up 100%[citation needed], mainly because medicines were no longer affordable to the poor."
This is the future I think the west is headed for, and worse
especially America
Then you had the violent wars in Chechnya, terrorism, and the country nearly went into civil war in 1993
I wonder if we are in a place right now with no good options
like the Soviet Union twoards the end of it's life
my dad remembers the 1991 coup attempt. He thought the reformists like Gorbachev and Yeltsin were criminals destroying the country, but he didn't want a return to the failed policies of the Brezhnev era either, that the coup leaders were offering
what choice was there? Either path was a path to darkness

why do women do this more than men?
Sadly, or perhaps fortunatley, Facebook does not make aerospace products, so I'd be no good there
We should pray and ask God to help us discern the next step for all of us
I think all our paths will be different
sometimes it will be beneficial to meet irl and to be open, other times for other people it will pay to be more secretive and silent
I'm not sure we get much value playing the optics game right now, at a group level
I mean, it's important to not look like a autistic retard person to person
but that's the thing, we are so fargone now, that we need to, in my opinion, start rebuilding things at the most fundamental unit
the person
in our real life person to person interactions
trying to be better people who lift those up around us
quite frankly, from what I have seen
we do not have anywhere near a "critical mass" to kickstart a big social or political movement
Is this not the same trap we have fallen in over and over again for the past 70 years?
We must think saints, not generals
in our actions, in our planning
we are not Christians because we seek more ink on the map demarcting our territory, we should really embrace our faith, and try to let some of that beauty shine through to other people in our lifes
cross out Catholic, and we have a deal ๐
I'm just an Orthodox Observer really
but the principle aplies none the less
hehehe, agreed
who was the saint who said that if you find inner peace, a thousand souls around you will be saved?
and, I mean I dont think you even have to be a great saint to let the light shine through. I think something as simple as patience sometimes with people, a virtue sorlely lacking today
can sometimes open peoples minds
and, even viewing this as purely an engineering or a tactical issue, we need to build up a critical mass, if you will
before the fire will get started
but in the end, it's not about engineering, it is about our relationship with God, love, and so on
granted, my perspective on it is going to be somewhat different coming from a more Orthodox setting
I feel too many of the reactionaries of the past, they have just had a mechanical faith, or a blind fear of the future. We must embrace what we love, and we must not look at society as an engineering challenge, but as something to be dealt with with prayer and discernment.
Of course, in the end, it is all up to God
in a purely secular sense--we have no power ๐
they have the senators and the CEOs and the academics and the artists
