In his case, where he has admitted to having no faith at all and struggling to generate even a spark of it, I think it's far more pertinent to set up the foundations of a healthy life whereupon faith and devotion to the Lord can be built.

Some people change their entire lives by discovering Christ in a flash of inspiration. This isn't one of those cases.
