2019-08-20 02:16:09 UTC

No. Actively seeking martyrdom isn't a thing.

I WISH FOR DEATH

2019-08-20 02:16:25 UTC

Yes it is, let me find you the person who said it

2019-08-20 02:16:48 UTC

Okay, maybe 'seeking' it, but intentionally putting yourself in a position to get martyred isn't.

2019-08-20 02:16:50 UTC

_ Let him be sad there, who sigheth for the enjoyment of the world ? The Christian, even when out of prison, hath renounced the world; but, when in prison, a prison also 14. It mattereth not where ye are in the world, who are without the world : and if ye have lost any of the joys of life, it is a goodly traffic to lose somewhat, that you may gain the more. I say nothing yet of the reward to which God calleth martyrs_ - Tertullian

2019-08-20 02:20:50 UTC

I am a communist accelerationist 😐

2019-08-20 02:21:13 UTC

Rapture won't come until the whole world is communist - advocate communism boys

2019-08-20 02:22:06 UTC

He doesn't say intentionally try to get martyred. That defeats the entire point.

2019-08-20 02:24:20 UTC

Guess Carthaginian martyrs were clowns then

2019-08-20 02:27:25 UTC

@MawLr i dont think theres an anti-Christian "plot" necessarily. there may be SOME of that, but theres more to the story. i think for a long time being Christian was the overarching meme in many societies, so that even those who didnt really believe participated in Christianity regardless, or at least believed in God generally, or otherwise were completely subjugated as a result of promoting a different belief.

and you cant discount science. science ultimately amounts to the theories of the physical world that our limited human comprehension has formed based purely on physical evidence. with the enlightenment and the development of the scientific community, many saw reason to doubt the validity of Chrsitianity because Christianity of the past was highly literal in comparison to today's Christianity. for instance, many of you here probably believe in evolution, but are still Christians.

what you have now is a higher proportion of Christians who genuinely believe that Jesus Christ is their lord and savior, generally speaking. there is less fakery, and people are more open about their disbelief because the dominant culture promotes secular reasoning over spirituality.

2019-08-20 02:27:35 UTC

Look, times are even worse today than they were in Rome. Nobody's going to care if you martyr yourself, as the savages that surround us don't care about anything really. I'd rather try to live a good life, and then if martyrdom calls me at some point, then I answer. Forcing it, though, is something I'm not going to do.;

Ecci mori time <:dogesunglasses:589578763445207040>

2019-08-20 02:30:59 UTC

Besides, living a Godly life is a better way to make the little shits suffer than just immediately martyring yourself. They can't stand it.

2019-08-20 02:41:59 UTC

Son of a bitch

2019-08-20 02:42:24 UTC

Why does every damn room full of "le esoteric" nutsacks always have to be full of sodomites?

2019-08-20 02:43:31 UTC

@ninjacats
Christianity was a bastion of science keepers against pagan invaders and many scientific schemes were made or influenced by the Church or Christians.

Modern science led people like Anthony Flew to embrace the idea that there is a God.

2019-08-20 02:46:30 UTC

Anyone who honestly thinks the modern world is a "bastion of scientific discovery" is so deluded it's not even funny

2019-08-20 02:48:24 UTC

@TheImperator
F. e. The prejudice that the whole Medieval Age was a dark age, is a myth, many great philosophic works were made in this time, there was a prosperous and very advanced Byzantine Empire, and important things like glasses, mechanic clocks, public libraries and print were invented in the Medieval Age.

2019-08-20 02:49:44 UTC

@Max Mustermann | Gregor Gysi that can be true, but you have to admit old school, literal interpretations of Christianity are at odds with the theories the scientific community has come up with.

@TheImperator i dont doubt for a second that science is NOT the final authority on anything. it's limited comprehension based on limited evidence, where conclusions are drawn by humans who are ultimatly flawed and incapable of explaining the universe. the same reasoning can be used to explain why Christians themselves are terribly flawed as individuals (not to say Jesus/God is flawed)

2019-08-20 02:50:01 UTC

Ancient Times were not better, in Ancient Times a whole stadium cheered to see children being torn apart by lions, raping your slaves was usual and a father had the right to throw his Child at the garbage in ancient Rome after the Birth.

2019-08-20 02:51:45 UTC

@ninjacats I wasn't saying that science, itself, was wrong entirely. I'm saying that the modern world is not scientific in the slightest, and any scientific advancement it's responsible for is ultimately nothing compared to what came before.

2019-08-20 02:53:39 UTC

@Max Mustermann | Gregor Gysi Things are worse now. Besides, modern people love sadistic pleasures and killing babies, so I don't know what you're on about.

2019-08-20 02:55:43 UTC

@ninjacats
It depends on the perspective of literal, i know what you mean, the problem is, f. e. the world was made in seven days, but if we dig deeper, we see that the sun was made after day 1, so the Days in Genesis are not Earthly Days, they are time periods.

And many things were written for the Earthly perspective, like f. e. the Sun is moving from the Hebrews perspective, but this doesn't mean that the Earth isn't moving, Earth can be moving around the sun and it looks from the Human perspective, like the sun is moving.

Kopernikus f. e. was a pious Christian and he also stated, that nothing he says really contradicts the Biblexit just contradicted the Catholic approach of the Bible in the 15th century.

2019-08-20 02:56:20 UTC

Honestly, the father having the right to kill his child was more in line with what's right than saying the state has a monopoly on how all children are raised. The latter is infinitely worse, and arguably lead to what we have now.

2019-08-20 02:56:40 UTC

@TheImperator
There was more killing, more perversion and much more slaves in Ancient times, but i agree with you, there is the risk of returning to the prechristian wordly status.

2019-08-20 02:57:49 UTC

@TheImperator
Both is evil, the first things kills a child of God and the 2nd thing can create a menace for society, if there is the purpose to do so.

2019-08-20 02:59:39 UTC

No, there was not more perversion. They just to a better job at hiding it today. There was more killing, I agree, but we need more killing tbh. This entire situation is due, majorly, to any lack of conflict and near-complete atrophy of militarism in all aspects of life.

2019-08-20 03:01:55 UTC

Worldly peace between men and nations, instead of peace under God, is Hell, honestly. All it does is lead to the absolute worst acts of depravity and moral apathy imaginable, before the false system inevitably collapses and leads back into the most egregious come-back of barbarism imaginable.

_ For it is not my desire to act towards you as a man-pleaser, but as pleasing God, even as also you please Him…For if you are silent concerning me, I shall become God’s; but if you show your love to my flesh, I shall again have to run my race…Only request in my behalf both inward and outward strength, that I may not only speak, but [truly] will; and that I may not merely be called a Christian, but really be found to be one._

_Allow Me to Fall a Prey to the Wild Beasts_

2019-08-20 03:21:47 UTC

_I write to the Churches, and impress on them all, that I shall willingly die for God, unless you hinder me. I beseech you not to show an unseasonable good will towards me. Suffer me to become food for the wild beasts, through whose instrumentality it will be granted me to attain to God. I am the wheat of God, and let me be ground by the teeth of the wild beasts, that I may be found the pure bread of Christ. Rather entice the wild beasts, that they may become my tomb, and may leave nothing of my body; so that when I have fallen asleep [in death], I may be no trouble to any one. Then shall I truly be a disciple of Christ, when the world shall not see so much as my body. Entreat Christ for me, that by these instruments. I may be found a sacrifice to God. I do not, as Peter and Paul, issue commandments unto you. They were apostles; I am but a condemned man: they were free, while I am, even until now, a servant. But when I suffer, I shall be the freed-man of Jesus, and shall rise again emancipated in Him. And now, being a prisoner, I learn not to desire anything worldly or vain._

_I Desire to Die._
