So Galileo was a meme scientists and came up with the idea that the Sun wasn’t the center of the universe, at first he sounds like a genius but the issue is that he just came up with it without any scientific evidence, thus the science people ignored him, bu since he was good friends with the current pope and a powerful cardinal he tried to push his theory through theology

Theologians obviously beat him to dust because Galileo was no expert in theology, but he kept insisting

The local inquisition asked him to stop trying to push it because he had been proved wrong already

He was forgiven not once nor twice

But three separate times

What got him killed was his last book where he insulted everyone, the pope, the cardinals and the entire RCC for not accepting his unbacked theory

Sadly, at least in America, I find that it's less V2 that has lead to the mass Apostasy we're seeing but more very poor Catholic schools, bad priests, and grave mishandling of funds
