but you probably know that already

TomYum, Khao mun kai, Khao kaa moo, Khao moo dang and most if not all cafeterias/restaurants you come across in malls are the most safe&clean. Go there first to prepare your stomach for Thai food, but if you can handle it go to street food right away.

@kaetaa Obvious food to try for the first time is Pad Thai

"kinda like richard spencer mixed with david bowie" lol

2017-09-11 17:45:22 UTC

Honestly the same problem everywhere, globalization of staple foods and a mass market towards them means farms are increasingly less profitable. You can do things to adjust to market but the same young people who might be able to do that are moving away in droves.

2017-09-11 18:01:30 UTC

yeah and gubbermint subsidies to make it cheap in the first place, but not sure about this. might be a leftist narrative

2017-09-11 18:06:27 UTC

It's strange how the right wingers in the boonies hate the federal government

2017-09-11 18:06:27 UTC

likewise with the water policy (at least in California)

2017-09-11 18:43:35 UTC

most farms in the US would be big ag if not for government subsidies

2017-09-11 19:19:11 UTC

M8, most farms are big ag

2017-09-11 19:20:36 UTC

The subsidies is what feeds it, do you think a logical government would pay people NOT to grow corn to drive up prices or rule in favor of patenting seeds while not allowing cases where heirloom growers get thier crops wiped out by contamination with terminating hybrid lines?

2017-09-11 19:21:15 UTC

Or how about mandating that a farmer CANNOT grow his own feed as that would violet interstate commerce?

2017-09-11 19:22:44 UTC

The government is working hand in hand with big ag to kill the small farmer and make them the only source of feed, if you think banks are too big to fail how about seed companies that literally control the only viable seeds that keep people fed?

2017-09-11 23:59:18 UTC

Fucking big pharma does it again

2017-09-12 03:49:52 UTC

rice farmer life sounds comfy tbh

2017-09-12 04:11:35 UTC

I've met him in HK, he's pretty expat

2017-09-12 04:35:45 UTC

I imagine HK to be a fun place to live

2017-09-12 07:24:31 UTC
