the point of electric vehicles it not the whole process from harvesting the energy to converting it to be emission free. It's that the efficiency of having a dedicated process to harvest the electric energy from any source, and engines running on this electricity in total, is more efficient than burning fossil fuel right away and therefore results in lower over-all emissions
