There is a tradition where the bride hides in her home and the groom has to break in and steal her. But her friends and family guard the door so the groom has to throw red pockets full of money at them that they get to keep

So they get their money and then move

Also while you check in for the wedding , they have an accountant up front

And you're supposed to give money to the bridge and grooms family

So they write down your name and how much money you give

I asked why they had to catalogue everything it makes the gift seem less like a gift and more like a payment

I was told that they have to keep track so they can track the face given and so they know how much to give at THEIR wedding

So assuming everyone gets married, the money always goes back into each other's hands
