marriage is kinda deprecated, unless you need some of those additional rights granted

certain rights might be important when having children, depending on the country. Or if you decide to emigrate together even when having the same nationality

or when buying a house together etc

but under normal circusmtances, marriage is not needed

but to bring this back to shit-about-asia, before knowing about the culture and soeciety in Taiwan, I expected them to be more traditional and family oriented. only to find out that people my age in Taiwan, are even more hesitant to marry than people in Europe
